lstp04 -> CCMT Vs TacOps 4 - What are the differences? (8/13/2008 5:49:38 AM)

I currently have CCMT - Learning it, liking most of it.....

Am curious about jumping in with TacOp-4 -

Has anyone here played it? What the big differences between these two games?

Thanks

Totally different.

There is a demo for TacOps. Try it.

Well, basically like junk2drive says.  :)

CCMT is continuous time, and TacOps is turn-based.

CCMT's focus is section through company, while TacOps' focus is company through battalion/brigade.

30 minutes is a normal CCMT scenario, while a normal TacOps scenario is 120 minutes.

CCMT maps cover up to (I think) 1km x 4km.  TacOps maps routinely cover 6km x 15km and the largest maps out there are around 30km x 30km.

Personally, I think both are excellent, but in different ways.

Thanks for the responses -  Appreciated -

I'm surprised to find out TacOps doesn't have any modeling of forces (units/soldiers) with regard to their experience / effectiveness -   There is no "recruit, average , elite" type formula for helping to qualify differeing forces.....

TacOps is just simulates military hardware capabilities.  It also does not simulate morale.  So it's always a fight to the death.

TacOps does simulate suppression, and the designer claims the personnel kill model is more lethal than is strictly correct in order to account for soldiers who are morale losses (deciding to stay out of the fight).  But it's true TacOps has a much more kinetic feel!

What does that mean?

Sorry -- kinetic meaning a hard-kills model, as opposed to non-kinetic "soft factors" modeling such as morale.
