Tide,

I am not on the Beta Brigade, and have not connection to Matrix, except for some of their games, including CS.

I agree with your comments.

This debate is going far beyond ridiculousness, and it doesn't deserve that much flame, but I still think the 1.03 encryption is a bad move. Make an encrypted set of files for secure pbem, let the other players fiddle and mod as they see fit and did for 10 years.

Actually I reverted to the old talonsoft games on XP. Makes for better play and better constructed OOB's. Less confusing (MCS) (Talonsoft) User etc. I movede on and left matrix to its own devices. I went to AGEOD style of games and by far the support, the personalities and developers are great. They are open to criticism and honest game playability vs. old guard wishes. Don't get me wrong I applaud Jason for what he has done but remember what it boils down to is what the consumers want not the test brigade. I urge everyone to break open the old talonsoft stuff and look at the classic for what it was a game that depicts a framework in time. Historical Context. Etc. They really did a great job with that. There are some aspects on developing new ideas and keeping them in house vs displaying them public.
1. Formulate what needs to happen and in what order
2. See if it is economically feasible (Bang for the Buck)
3. Is it a true update or a total revision
4. Is the change required to ensure playability to all and not just a few
5. Incoroporate a few changes
6. Test the idea in a small closed test group.
7. Add more content to the closed group
8. Review test analysis
9. define release date
10. make public release date
11. release product

It is good to discuss changes and such in a forum and that is great but have a locked down schedule of events and itenerary of action plans.

This is truly something to behold. I will get villified for this but I am a member of the forum and have a right to my opinion.
