That B-25J is going to be here in the Greeley area for the next 4-5 days. I am taking my two sons to see it and go inside. If you want a 30 minute flight it is a $375.00 'donation.'

In relation to the Denver Area WiTPer's and this thread, there has been a vintage twin engine aircraft flying around the south side of Denver the last month.  It's about the size of a B25 & has the split tail (no tail gunner that I saw, but I could be wrong in my Old Age), but has a closed sharply rounded nose that looks similar to an A20.  I like to consider myself an above average Joe when it comes to military aircraft of that era, but I have never seen anything like it in picture or news reel.  Any  of you affecianados have any idea what this UFO might be?

John do you know the actual dates? It sounds like if I wait until the weekend it will be too late. :(

John 3rd -> RE: Restored aircraft from theatre. (8/21/2008 6:55:08 AM)

Hey Sir.  I just pulled out my copy of the Greeley Tribune and states that the days are this Friday through Monday.  It is at the Weld County/Greeley airport and is a B-25H (Barbie III is the name of the plane).

Information:  (800) 357-6561 or www.warbirdsunlimited.org.

Hope that helps!  I'm taking my two boys over on Friday!  Should be a blast.

Are we sure it's a LB30? Looks a lot like a C-87.

Thank you very much. Perhaps I will head up to check it out and take a look at my old stomping grounds around campus. [:)]

I'm looking at this & wondering if this or something really closely related might be my UFO. Dimensions are close.

Thanks for the heads up on the B25 ride. I'm off to go see about a ticket myself!

I am severely jealous!!...The B 24 (series) were always one of my favorites, and unlike the B 17, soon after the war it was one of the planes that went to the scrapyards immediately.
When you think of how many were built, and the fact I never saw one in my youth whatsoever, it is astounding how quick the plane vanished.

BTW, a very popular film was made in 1944 called WINGED VICTORY and was about a B 24 crew from entry into the USAAF to their deployment (as I recall.)
Have not seen that film in years and sure would like a copy..
I even wrote Ted Turner for one, but that went nowhere..[8|]

if you want to be realy jelious my parents haven't gotten me birthday or christmas presents since I was like 16 but years ago when the collins foundations b24 came through town they bought me a ride in it.

Thanks for the info on this! I might have to go check it out myself. My son is away at mom's, or I'd take him along.

Looks like the plane is right down the road from my work at Centennial Airport until early September. Very cool!

Too bad we cannot coordinate the three of us going and getting chance to meet each other!

I suggest a bar on a Thursday night. A few beers, and excuses to get away due to work the next day if the meet becomes socially unacceptable [;)]

A couple of planes from an oft forgotten part of the war.
Hawk3 from the RTAF, now in a Thai museum.

A Hawk 75 which may have had the distinction of flying against both the French and the Japanese.

As many of you are from the US, probably some of you will already have seen this one. Of the more exotic ones it is my favourite plane from the pacific theater. I did not get as far as Thailand, this photo was taken at tha Udvar-Hazy Center of the National Air and Space Museum on my trip to the US east coast this August. After visits to both of the smithonian venues I got enough photos to keep this thread going for a while by my self...

The Aichi M6A Seiran

And a second one, this Seiran is the last of its kind discovered in a factory in Japan after the war ended.

I'm pretty sure this aircraft sat outside the Willow Grove Naval Air Station front gate for many, many years. I have some photo's (somewhere) that I took of her in the late 70's. I'll have to find them and compare.

Next time you are in the DC area , contact me and we can have a beer or two. [:)]

In the book on the exhibits of the museum it says that the navy transferred the plane to the museum in 1962. But they could have loaned it somewehre elese as they did not have a lot of space, for airplanes like this one, back then.

A beer sounds like a goog idea, but it will probably take me a few years until I visit the US east coast again.
