James Hoyt, one of the soldiers who liberated Buchenwald, dies at 83.

Apparently there is a new book called "The Oxford Project" coming out that will feature an interview with Hoyt. Some of the stories he told were horrifying and it is awe-inspiring to note that Hoyt was only 19 when he witnessed these things and did these deeds for his country. When I think of what I was doing when I was 19, I thank Hoyt and others like him for his sacrifices to make me able to live a comfortable and happy life.

To all the veterans out there, thank you, and RIP Mr. Hoyt.

SoM

Rest in peace, James Hoyt.

I completely agree SoM. I certainly think that young people in our country don't realise how lucky they are not to be growing up in a situation where their country is involved in a global conflagration like our grandparents used to. I guess that if they did, then there would be none of the stabbings and shootings, with which they are responsible for, would "decorate" the front pages of our newspapers.
