Ok,i have a dilemma,i want both the games but cant afford it.i have played Waterloo and one of the Civil war games years ago.Which of the 2 offer the best value for money?I am siding with the ACW game but as the Napoleon one has Age of Sail its bugging me to buy that one.

marcbarker -> RE: Which is best. (8/19/2008 6:53:28 PM)

ACW - you can create various sccenarios...it does have the day to night stuff embedded....3 day battles, cavalry, supply, mortar barges in the battle of shiloh.....hmmmmmmm

andym -> RE: Which is best. (8/19/2008 7:00:16 PM)

Cool but are there any mods for the Napoleonic one to become the Crimean War?I wanna charge them GUNS!

1NWCG -> RE: Which is best. (8/20/2008 1:44:06 AM)

No not Crimean but a whole host of the Napoleonic Wars, almost all battles:

Panic all over.[:D][:D][:D]

marcbarker -> RE: Which is best. (8/21/2008 6:21:40 PM)

Ok Andy....like in the CS Series.....the menus are quite alike...

marcbarker -> RE: Which is best. (8/21/2008 6:23:58 PM)

The music files work in the same way as the CS same as the Battle Sounds......I have to look at the menu's when I get Home....also you have little video clips you can play as the battle rips on as well.....when you cannon fires the AVI file kicks and and shows a a real crew manning a cannon and fire

andym -> RE: Which is best. (8/21/2008 6:39:56 PM)

Yep got the video shots of the action.I think all i needed to do was reboot after downloading.A quick Question as im not well up on ACW history,are the scenarios/campaigns listed in chronological order?

marcbarker -> RE: Which is best. (8/21/2008 7:17:12 PM)

they should be....you will great enjoyment out of it....I would suggest gettysburg, hypo stuart arrives....that is a good one ....

marcbarker -> RE: Which is best. (8/21/2008 7:18:49 PM)

I did locate a vicksburg mod for the game...very cool campaign.... i think it is a pre HPS thing

andym -> RE: Which is best. (8/23/2008 7:05:49 PM)

I started playing Gettysburg,i get the video effects but no music in the background.Any ideas?I do have the option ticked in the menu so it should be there,its there on the other Battles!

John 3rd -> RE: Which is best. (8/24/2008 10:05:24 PM)

It should be working.  I always turn off the visual and sound effects.  That is rather odd.  Ask for some tech support at the appropraite spot on this forum.

John 3rd -> RE: Which is best. (8/24/2008 10:50:39 PM)

Andym,
IIRC Gettyburg is the only "scenario" without background music. There is no "background music" option in the "Option-Menue".
I´m a little sad about this as well.

John 3rd -> RE: Which is best. (8/24/2008 11:32:08 PM)

Wow.  I didn't know that.  Thanks for the info.

Ashantai -> RE: Which is best. (8/25/2008 1:37:57 AM)

Gettysburg had no background music at all. Why Matrix didn't add some I have no idea.

Valkyrie -> RE: Which is best. (8/25/2008 7:19:41 AM)

I didn't know that either.

However, since I quickly get bored with the music, I turn it off on all my games. I lose the animations quickly too... they take up too much time to play.

andym -> RE: Which is best. (8/25/2008 6:13:11 PM)

ahhh,ok.I feel better knowing that i havent been seen off or mucked the install up.Is there any way of importing the files from the other scenarios into gettysburg?

Ashantai -> RE: Which is best. (8/25/2008 10:02:59 PM)

I always dropped the videos too. The music is fine...but after you've heard it for a few hours I tend to turn it off as well.

Dazooz2 -> RE: Which is best. (9/13/2008 1:35:23 AM)

Is it possible to listen to the music outside of the game?

John 3rd -> RE: Which is best. (9/13/2008 2:39:06 AM)

When these games first came out I remember a CD you could buy from Talon Soft that had all the music on it from the BG:  Civil War games.  Don't know anything about that now...

Ashantai -> RE: Which is best. (9/13/2008 12:05:27 PM)

Sure, all the music files are WAVs that are on the CD, Just copy them off (there's no protection) and play in your choice of media player.

Dazooz2 -> RE: Which is best. (9/13/2008 9:59:42 PM)

I don't think they are available that way off the Matrix CD.

Ashantai -> RE: Which is best. (9/13/2008 10:09:22 PM)

Really? That'd suck. :(

Kingmaker -> RE: Which is best. (9/14/2008 11:37:07 AM)

Just a thought
