I was wondering why there's no demo to try for the game? Even if you get to play one quarter with two set teams with the option of coach or normal game play mode.

The games customization sounds really good but I would like to see and experience some game play before paying $40. Myself and other sports gamers I know always play demo's before purchasing "especially from unknown or first time purchases". Very few people are going to plop down $40 on a game they know little about. This is not saying the game isn't worth the price.

There are some YouTubes that can get you a feel for gameplay.

And then there's the customization aspects, which modding sites can show you and can't really be implemented in a demo.

Watching a game and playing are two different things. I remember watching EA NCAA football 07 thought it was good until I purchased it. UGH....

Interesting concept

on the other hand, I hardly think $40 would break the bank even if you hated the game after purchase
but if your interst is in a game you can mod to your hearts desire, you wont be disappionted

I guess I should be more specific, when I say game play I mean the following...

Interface for play calling how intuitive is it.
Substitute players...
In Game atmosphere...

The game show the graphics and explains the customization which is nothing complain about but without good game play it's wouldn't be worth it too me.

You say $40 dollars won't break the bank but it's the difference between spending $40 on a product your not sure you'll like to play or $40 - $50 on a game you played a demo and know you would like to play.

I totally understand what your saying Brother

I demand a lot from a game and hate it when I purchase a title that I think will deliver.........then it dont
I expect to get certain things from a football title that had (before MaxFB) yet to reached by any game, including Madden
While I dont want to mis-lead, MaxFB has pretty much fell right into what I wanted out of a football title

Yer, so it dont have the best graphics engine in the world, no worries, the graphics certainly aint the worst I've ever seen
and what you see on screen can be changed loads by those in the community.

Playbooks and such, far better than madden and again the ability to change and alter plays however you like
Atmosphere : change the game so it has what you want and desire and thats all the atmosphere you'll need,
one guy here actually has his own former High school team in the game, proper uniforms and playing field..........hows that for atmosphere.

To sum up, this is how I see MaxFootball

It promises much and bygotcha it delivered most of it too

I don't know if David has answered this question in the public forum or not, but the reason he isn't going to make a demo is it would be too easy to hack up to the real game.

Marauders -> RE: Why No Demo? (9/1/2008 5:46:56 PM)

The reasons there is no demo are twofold: the first is the time constraints with a single developer, and the second was the difficulty for David to create a demo that could not be turned into the complete game by application of an update patch or game files.

Scott_WAR -> RE: Why No Demo? (9/1/2008 8:02:46 PM)

Lets not forget that a demo would not be able to show the main parts of the game,....the PDS, league play, customization, etc. Making a demo that allows someone to play a game and nothing else would not show what this game is like or about. In fact I think a demo would hurt more than it would help because the players would not see the best part of the game, and would assume the worst.

garysorrell -> RE: Why No Demo? (9/1/2008 8:47:59 PM)

I agree with Scott_War. On the field gameplay in MaxFB is fine. But on it's own, it cant compare to Madden. You would really need to see all that MFB has to offer. And they really are two very different experiences. Madden is 'The' NFL experience. Max Football is 'Football(American style)Sandbox'.
MaxFB is like a Role-Playing game. Roll up your character and start the adventure.

DreamTeams -> RE: Why No Demo? (9/1/2008 9:22:36 PM)

Perhaps you'll just have to take the leap like the rest of us, with no demo available. I'm glad I did. This game is in a nitche all by itself. It's not Madden. But, if you want to construct a total football unverse, complete with field play, go with this product.
