Japan -> Bugg/Exploit of WITP - Will this also be part of AE? (9/6/2008 8:23:54 PM)

I know of an anoying Bugg/Exploit of WITP I hope will not be included in AE.

If a Air Group is located on a 20K Base, lest say in Osaka.
Lets say its a Oscar Air Group, who has a short Range.

If you try to Transfer/Move it to a Base in, lets say India, then of course it will tell you that it is unable to do so (because of the range). However, if you Upgrade the unit to NATE - then you can (when all is 0 Ready of 36 being repaired) transfer it to any Japanese base on the map, regardless of Range. Then once it arrives at its location you can upgrade it back to the Oscars aigan if you like. And wolla - you have transfered planes on 1 day regardless of range, without risking operational loss ect ect..

This is a sad exploit, and i cant stand exploits (hate them..) so -- Will you be able to Program it so that this Bugg is not part of AE?

Did not know you could do this, thanks for the info. After so many years I learned a new thing.

I have never seen this. Is it only possible from Osaka?

I just upgraded some units at various locations, and they don't have teleportation powers.

Are you saying that if you upgrade a unit, you can then move that unit anywhere on the map?

Anyone else seen this?

I've never seen this but I only play the Allies. You should be able to transfer pretty much any distance via rail, but Osaka doesn't connect to mainland Asia. The unit isn't combat ready for a while after the rail transfer. There are a lot of factors in how fast the planes repair. I'm not sure what the problem is.

It sounds like he is saying you can move the group anywhere on the map without putting it on ships.  Interesting.

Just tried this.  It only gave me the option to transfer to hexes in Japan and not on the continent.  Tried it as Allies also and it does not work for them either.

...providing you have no serviceable airplanes. They have to repair but...

Never seen this, and just tried it in various combinations ... only allows rail movement within Japan...

"Japan" - Are you sure ?

wdolson -> RE: Bugg/Exploit of WITP - Will this also be part of AE? (9/7/2008 3:42:09 AM)

There is a feature in the recent mods of WitP I in which air unts can be moved by rail and all damaged planes will be moved.  But that option only exists if the base is on a rail line and you can only move the unit to other bases with rail connections.  So this can be done easily in the continental US as well as within Japan, but it doesn't get the unit to Singapore from Osaka.

Right, you can ALWAYS move a unit by rail no problem, and that's not an exploit, that's as it should be. Japan was saying that you could leap oceans, and I don't think that is the case, at least from anything I have seen.

well... playing Big. B mod, and semes i can move them to Dheli from Japan also... ?
For all AC types exept Dinah.  (I did a test just to check, would of course not do it in a game)

This might be due to the pwhex file that the mod uses. Press the 'r' key to display the road/rail network. If Japan is connected to mainland Asia then this would explain it.

And that brings up a good point. Just because a mod allows it doesn't mean that either the stock game allowed it or AE will. If stock allows a certain exploit and it is known by the testers then it would be corrected if possible. However, some exploits can not be corrected because they are player controlled. The AE team has made a tremendous effort to remove exploits whenever possible.

I've seen this in stock a few times, and CHS in one PBEM game.

It's a bug with air units with no aircraft, or no servicable ones, I'm not sure... I think if the air unit nas no planes, but pilots, you can select transfer, then select on map, then pick any friendly base.

I don't think it happens everytime, or maybe there are more conditions that have to be meet, but it does happen.

I think everytime I've seen it I've been pulling units out of the DEI to stop them being overrun, so maybe the base being part of a restriced command has something to do with it as well...
