With the growing interest in the USA and Europe of the Luftwaffe '46 phenomenon, are there plans to incorporate this into TOH?

JeffroK -> RE: Luft '46 option? (9/25/2008 1:15:17 PM)

I hope not, the developers have enough work on their hads without designing "Luftwaffe wet dreams" scenarios.

Hard Sarge -> RE: Luft '46 option? (9/25/2008 2:11:46 PM)

now, now

we do have a Jet Campaign, that uses the basic 44 OOB, with some code work changes (not the greatest)

wasn't really played much in the past, as back then, all the work went into the 43 OOB and nothing into the 44, so any improvements didn't show up

so, any improvements in the Campaign, would need to be coded, and are on the backburning, and more for after release improvements

now on my end, I could make a *44OOB* with the idea that it be kept to the side and only added to the data folder for this campaign (or get Harley to put a block so it can only be used) and add in a stock pile of the dream planes

but, got too much other stuff going on right now, but it could be done (which of course, would mean, more Allied Uber Aircraft also)

Hard Sarge -> RE: Luft '46 option? (9/25/2008 2:15:20 PM)

just in case, any work done on the game now, works in all of the campaigns, and OOBs are updated for all of the campaigns also, some don't work as well as I would like (mainly talking from the OOB side) and I have added stock to fill in some of the gaps

but these also should be slowly corrected as we get the chance

Just my opinion as a player but I am satisfied with the Jet Campaign. I dont feel a need for beyond 45. THat is just me and I dont know if I am in the minority or not. However I wont complain if you build it Hard Sarge [:D]

For me the attraction to this game is the strategic format of breaking down the Third Reich or by defeating the Allied Air Forces during the period of 43-45. It is up to you the player to formulate a plan, execute it and deal with what happens to overcome your opponent. For either side IMO this is no trivial game. That being the core of the attraction. This is IMO a very complex game and not meant to be a Beer and Pretzels' game like many others out there.

Kaybayray;

I totally concur with your statement.

But if we were to take this "engine" and move it to Korea...[:)]

Hard Sarge -> RE: Luft '46 option? (10/17/2008 12:38:34 PM)

greeeesh, that would be a HARD one to model anywhere close, interesting idea though

Migs vs 29's, Sabres and Migs, Piston Engines vs Jets, late model Yaks vs 51s and F4u's

to be honest though, what would be really HARD is the ground war side of it, most of the Air to Air and Air to Ground was a side show, importent, but not war winning as seen from the Stat Air ideas (Tac played a bigger role)

would be interesting though

rictavian -> RE: Luft '46 option? (10/18/2008 2:55:01 PM)

Yep, you guys got it. I've played TOH for many years and even a bombing campaign against Japan would be nice.

bigmilt -> RE: Luft '46 option? (10/18/2008 3:21:37 PM)

Let's be real here - the phenomenon would have been would they have any planes at all. Even if the
Germans stopped the Americans/British/Canadians on the West front the Russian horde on the east front
wouldn't have stopped at Berlin. They would have kept going. You can't build planes with no raw materials
and only a couple of factories. Besides in real life in 1945 the Germans couldn't even make enough small arms
and ammunition for the army or when they made it they had to distribution system left to get it to where it
would do the most good. Good things on paper and one prototype does not mean a great airplane or the ability
to mass produce it.

Hard Sarge -> RE: Luft '46 option? (10/18/2008 4:03:10 PM)

ahhh, what war are you talking about ?

end of the war they had plenty of planes left and more were being built, mainly they had too many planes and weapons and no body to use them, then not having any

and have never seen anything about them being out of ammo or weapons, fuel yes, lack of trains yes, but not weapons or ammo

agree with the Russians, but most 46 dreamsworlds are based on the West being stalemated, while the Germens were able to shift and hold the line in the East, which as you say, is part of the dreamworld, that never would of happened

but don't sell the Germen Fanasies short, most of them are still in use now, and some from the drawing boards are part of the dreamweapons of tomorrow

Not short of ammo as in NO ammo at all, but they were short as in having to ration the available amount

Arty yes, would agree with that, but that was long standing, but he said small arms and ammo, I have still never seen where there were short of ammo or weapons

Alfred -> RE: Luft '46 option? (10/20/2008 8:36:00 AM)

Its not my intention to quibble here, but I don't think we should totally dismiss bigmilt's point in post #9.  Going on memory from a long time ago, hence I could be wrong, Heinrici when defending Berlin in April 1945 (a) could only afford 1 or 2 panzerfaust per so equipped individual, (b) insufficient mines existed to mine the Berlin approaches (everything being concentrated on the Seelow Heights) and instead carts with sandbags were employed to impede the Soviet armour, (c) Anthony Beevoir in his book makes mention of 50 new AFVs being delivered direct from the Berlin factory to the frontline because of the shortage of German armour.

Hey Tech Sgt,
Just my thoughts but I dont think the Korean Conflict is a good fit for this model. I think that is a better fit for a flight simm where the player flys an aircraft. With respect to aviation.

IIRC (but I'm suffering from oldtimers disease) I asked about this but couldn't find reply to it but along the lines of the Luft 46 question, will the Russian Liberation Army units be included in the German OOB like Aufklarungsstaffel 3?
