I've been experimenting with an Outdoor 8-man Football league and was wondering if its possible to come up with some kind of Punt Play. I don't mind using Live Feildgoal Kicking, but Punting would be sort of nice for Kicking strategy.

I tried doing a search for this on the message board, and there have been a couple that claim that it is possible, but they don't go into specifics on how they make that kind of play.

Be advised, once you add it to the playbook, you are kinda stuck with it. So backup your pbk files first.

Ok, thank you for the link guys.  But can some one explain why you are "stuck with it" in your playbook?  Is this some sort of Hacked Play or something?

Also, one other question. I can only use Max Football version 1.3149, can this Punt play still work with earlier versions of the game?

It was designed prior to 2.0

When you add a special teams play, then you cant delete it out of the playbook because the popup will say something like 'Cant delete, only play of this type'

Just make copies of your pbk files before you add it.

I made these ages ago. Dont really remember what all I had to do to make it, but it's a pain.

Gary, just wanted to say that your Punt Play works great for my league I'm working on.  I don't know about anyone else, but I think the 8-man Outdoor Football option for this game is great.  Its like wide open action of CFL game, but on a 100 yard feild. 

Gary, I haven't tried this yet, but is it possible to edit your Punt Plays to make Fake punts?  Or would this screw things up with the plays?

There is a bit of file hacking required to actually create the punt plays. I have long since forgotten what was even involved, but I think the post is still on the forum somewhere.
I like the 8 man formations and the big fields also. LOTS of room to run plays.

I had used field goal attempts as punts with a live ball for 8-man outdoor play.

There was a glitch in that I while back though, and I have not been playing with that setup for a long time, so I don't know if it is clean for 2.0.

Ya, I use to use Live Feildgoals as a substitute for Punting with this 8-man Outdoor Football, but I found out quickly that the game isn't really designed for it on the 100 yard feild.  There were times a team would attempt a really long feild goal, it would be recovered in the Endzone and the Return Player would down the ball, but the team would get the ball at the spot of the Kick instead of a touchback.  This sort of made the Live Feildgoal option useless, might aswell just go for it on 3rd or 4th down. 

That is why I'm really glad there is this Punt play, it allows for some Punting strategy for the 8-man game.
