CeltiCid -> Port blokade (9/30/2008 8:50:10 PM)

hi
im USA in a PBEM game.

i got control of Alabama, but the city of Mobile is under CSA control.

Must i block the port of Mobile? does it count for victory points or if i control the State, that port dont give any bonusses to CSA?

thanks

You can't capture a territory unless it's adjacent to a territory you already own.  You *can* occupy cities even if you don't meet the aforementioned qualification for owning the territory in which they are located.  Points should be for cities, not for provinces, if I remember correctly.  Not sure whether this answers your question.

You're asking about VP's from implementing the "Anaconda Plan" (so to speak)? If so, I believe you would still need to blockade the port.

No, im talking about the port blokade, not the capture of the city.

If USa block enought CSA ports, USA will receive victory points and will reduce the amount of resources gathered by CSA runners.

USA control Alamaba, but not the city/port of Mobile. Should USA block that port in order to get the victory points for port blokade?

thanks

You don't have to blockade a port where the city has been occupied. I recall one example where I checked and the blockade option was removed during the period of occupancy.

I assume that occupation removes the port from those available to the CSA and therefore ports blockaded will represent a higher proportion than previously. In the example concerned, this led to the 50% VP blockade being triggered for the temporary period that the city was occupied.

Capture of a state capital would only have an effect on the blockade if there is a port in that same province.

How do you control Alamaba if you do not control Mobile ?

Mobile isn't the state capital.

CeltiCid -> RE: Port blokade (10/1/2008 9:16:46 PM)

I got no control over Mobile. I got all the state but Mobile. You can see that here:

My question is: CSA is still controlling MOBILE and MOBILE port. should i block that port in order to reduce their runner income and get victory points for blocking half of CSA ports?

thanks.
i hope the questions is clear enought now ;)

Yes you need to blockade it or capture it. Either way will achieve your objectives.
