I'm a little younger than some of you, being graduating high school in 1985 so this is what I started with.

Believe me, I had many a vicious battles. As much as I love PC games and being married with a kid I don't have time or a full time table dedicated to table top gaming, nothing can replace fighting an opponent that is seated across from you, staying up all night with snacks and drinks.

Ah yes, I am a near-contemporary of you (Class of '87). I remember playing Star Fleet Battles until all hours of the night on Friday and Saturday with my friends. I recently even found my boxed set (alas, I only had the box, not the numerous add-ons).

Thanks Punk Reaper! Codename: Sector was EXACTLY the game I was looking for. I had more fun with the wax crayon than anything else, at the age I remember it!

When I was a kid, my dad had this giant plastic board game that had a map of the Atlantic (I think) and an electronic doodad at the top. The game came with some pieces and a red crayon, and the idea was that you were suppose to track the coming and going of a submarine, eventually sinking it. I think you entered the coordinates you wanted to go to on the doodad at the top, and it would give you rudamentary noises and other feedback to tell you if you were hit, if it hit you, or what was your general progression. Anyone remember what this might be called. It seemed pretty darned cool at the time, but remember, this was the 80s and we were convinced that you could never get any better graphics than the Atari game Adventure. Yeah, the one with the duck-dragon and the glowing chalice.

I litterally grew up playing Sci-Fi and Fantasty wargames. One was the Dune boardgame based on the movie (1984), where you bought harvesters, got cool cards to equip your guys with (the Gom Jabar) and Patrick Stewart kicked butt!

The other game was this really wacky Sci-Fi game called "Shadowlord!". You would fly around, gathering planets and allies while battling these black disced shadows, one of which was the Shadowlord. He had this neat crystal you had to get and it would zap everyone. You had to get this and then get back to base, or maybe kill your opponents before a certain time limit and the Shadowlords went crazy all over you. Good times, good times.

On an unrelated side note, this is my first missive from Marseille, France, where I will hang my hat for 9 months. Judge, you wanna come down for a quick round of Memoir 44? [;)]

I think your sub hunt game is on this page

What I'd like to see made is a WWI ariel computer turn based game like the Blue Max game you can play online. Except I would like to play against computer opponents since online play is PBEM and is slow as christmas.
I would also enjoy a Memoirs 44 pc computer game as well. That really looks like the board game but you can play once again against a computer AI.
