big dawg -> All WF scenarios crash WF.exe error messages (10/8/2008 1:13:22 AM)

I have XP. I can play EF without a problem. I can play a WF campaign without a problem.

I TRY TO SELECT "PLAY SCENARIO: FROM THE MENU, AND GET AN WF.EXE ERROR MESSAGE. The game then crashes without ever selecting a scenario.

Suggestions?

Thank you.

Jack, I have no troubles playing WF scenarios.

Edward,
I have no problem going to the bathroom, but I still can not open WF to play scenarios.

Is there a way to save all the EF files (custom scenarios) then uninstall Matrix JTCS & just download the whole JTCS game yet again.

BTW I am happy you can play WF.  Just happy, happy, happy......

Roadrunner, big dawg wants a solution, and telling him you can play WF with no troubles is not helping.

You can play WF, GOOD FOR YOU.

Big dawg, I would try the seeing if EF has different settings than WF.You may have a setting in WF that your computer doesn't like.

Did you add something to the game? Did you recently update; if you updated, did you update to the right folders? Did you add a west front scenario from wargamer or the blitz? or?

If so, that is probably the root of the problem, so I would recommend deleting what you added. That should fix the problem.

Thanks Jason. That was my next question/solution.

Sad that others thought I was making fun of Jack? He started off with the facts that he could play EF scenarios and WF campaigns only. I wanted a bit more info. I downloaded version 1.04 about the same time as him.
I guess in the future I will reserve help so as guys like V22 Osprey could keep their smart ass comments to themselves? [8|]

Ed, I know you were kidding.

I added a bunch of the files from Craig Fosters site including LCG.

Could I save the EF files (since they are working & it includes a bunch of custom scenarios) to a folder & uninstall the whole game then just add JTCS back?

Yes, you can save your EF files into a New Folder and then add them after a fresh install.

Alternatively, using the Uninstall feature, in theory, should delete all the matrix files, leaving added files remaining in the folder. You can delete the remaining files from West Front (leaving the East Front files, as you mentioned they work). It used to do that anyway, not sure if it still works.

Jack I was not as much kidding as I was trying to get a baseline for your problem.
I was going to write more at the time but, I got called away and did not finish.

Once "you" establish that the problem is not with Matrix or Microsoft, you move on to what "you" might have done recently to your computer or game folder. Had you said, at first, that you downloaded some custom scenarios I would have told you immediately to remove them and retry to start a scenario in WF. [:)]

It's all cool. I thought "Mr. Osprey" jumped in with an implication that was not justified. There's already enough negative stuff hitting this and other forums to have another where it is not needed? [;)]

Roadrunner,I didn't mean  any disrespect, but I was just saying that you telling someone who has a problem with something and just saying you can do the the same thing with no troubles doesn't help.

BTW you call me a smart ass all you like.[:'(]  I now officially have a problem with you.

MrRoadrunner -> RE: All WF scenarios crash WF.exe error messages (10/8/2008 8:50:00 PM)

I've always been told it is better to be known as a "smart ass" than a "dumb ass". [;)]

Seriously, a lot of players are quick to jump on Matrix, Microsoft, or their computer maker.
Often the simplest solution is to look at something that was done by the person as an individual?

I should have written:
"Jack, I do not have any problems with starting WF scenarios. Did you do something recently to/with the WF folder?"

It was the scanty information given that was not enough to go on, and my reply being cut short that was seen as not being helpful.
Sorry, to stand up for myself. [&o]
Jack and I go way back to his days as a porn star and me as a film director. [:D]

That's not I was told. I was told I wouldn't get fired for being a dumb ass, but I sure as [H-E-double toothpicks] would get fired for being a smart ass.

I'd heard about Big Dawg's days as a porn star, but I hadn't heard MrRoadrunner was his director. Were they comedies? Sit coms?

V22 Osprey -> RE: All WF scenarios crash WF.exe error messages (10/8/2008 9:18:23 PM)

So you're call'in me a dumb ass and a smart ass.You must think that since this is an online message board you think you can call anyone whatever hell you want. That's fine, keep talking crap.I'm sure if we were face to face you wouldn't have called me that.

I feel responsible.  Some of my replies can be edgy.  Did not intend to draw anyone else into verbal exchange.  Ed & I go back aways & I know he was kidding.

I really appreciate both of you looking at the post in an effort to come to my aid.

I will quote my favorite street thug/ career offender, " Can't we just all get along."

Beyond that, I know that you are watching out for me. Ewww, I'm frightened. [;)]

Ya just need to lighten up. Everything said is not related to you, regardless of how much you may want it to be? [:D]

V22 Osprey is apparently only 15 years old.

I hope Big Dawg gets his game fixed.

As porn names go, "Big Dawg" is probably preferable to "My Little Pony."

He downloaded custom files and they were corrupted. He removed them.

Hello Arkady,
I was away for a few days.
I had downloaded several WF files from a site run by Craig Foster. One or more of these files were corrupted. When you remove the JTCS game (using remove program feature) the scenario files remain in a folder. I deleted the WF folder & installed the game.
Problem fixed. THANKS!!!
