Mark McIntosh -> I know it's a Beta, but... (10/8/2000 11:10:00 PM)

The game locks up when selecting, and then deleting, support troops in the force selection menu. I'm using the WWII Campaign option. Very frustrating to get to the point of finishing up the selection process and then to have things lockup. Since the scenarios are dynamic, it is near impossible to NOT change your mind when selecting units to fit the available purchase points. I'm uninstalling it today. Most changes seem to apply to e-mail games anyway.

Paul Vebber -> (10/8/2000 11:33:00 PM)

Which countries are you using, I just tried this and it works fine...no crash More details,please?

Ismael -> (10/9/2000 12:06:00 AM)

i also see this bug in my dell laptop 500 w/ 256 win 98 spwaw4.3: the game hangs up and needs ctl-alt-del to free the computer when PLACING THE CURSOR over the unit list after selecting support troops in the ww2 campaign.

when playing german

I guess this is as good a place as any to post this problem. Ver 4.2 and 4.3b both show this problem. 1941-42 Campain as the Germans 4.3b fixed the missing tanks nicely, however there is another problem I came across, when purhasing support units you can not purchase any JPz units (sec, plt, co)the window does not open to show units. Also the SP-Guns are the same as the STuG units, no SIG 33 or other versions of this SP gun. Great job keep up the good work. Is there a particular place that bugs should be reported to??

German unit purchase screen. The German purchase unit screen (OOB selection) hasn't really been right since I noticed the missing Jagdpanzers (40-43) with v4.2.

Thats a known peroblem and simple to fix - but I just haven't had a chance yet. IT should not casue crashes. I have not been able to get a crash - what specific units are you buying. I have started a WW2 Campaing, started as a variety of countries including Germans at various times, bouoght a core and bought support, and delted and rebaought them and it seems to work. I may not have chosen the unit that casues it teh problem. DOes it always crash regardless of what you pick and what country/year you are? have you deleted teh steel.prf file? Have uo tried reinstalling the patch?

Nope. Haven't deleted the steel.prf file. I am about to remove the game and reinstall w/o v4.3 beta.

crazyivan -> (10/9/2000 10:55:00 AM)

the game locking up seams to be a mouse problem or a game bug i have tried several times at first buying units mostly german but russian as well,highlited last unit nothing then bought core support units and no matter what the unit is infantry afv or arty if you let your mouse pionter stay over the very last unit on the bottom line it will lock up the game and you have to alt out etc. it is possible if you are fast enough to delete the last unit but within a secound or so lock up will accure this has happened every time i have tried.campiagns only so far.

Hello Crazyivan! What kind of puter do you have. I had no lock in the game. I tried to reproduce your lock up and the other problems posted on the forum about puter locking up with no luck. The game run without a flaw for me with v4.3b. Steel Thunder -> (10/9/2000 6:59:00 PM)

Paul: My tests results: Game locks up when you move your mouse pointer over last support unit AND keep it here couple of seconds. Thats when 'delete unit' -pop up window have to appear. It doesn't and game locks up. It doesn't matter what country you have, what units you bought or what year it is and is it ww2 campign or generated campaign. crazyivan mentioned that it may be a mouse problem. Well, I tried MS Intellimouse(USB), MS SerialMouse(serial) and Logitech mouse(ps2). Bug appears regardless what mouse I use. I had installed full 4.1 and patches 4.2 and 4.3b. I delete steel.prf. My computer is: MSI K7T pro Amd Duron 700 256mb Creative Geforce 2 Sb Live value MS Intellimouse with intellieye(usb) Windows 98 SE I hope my tests help you solve the problem. Steel Thunder

Tom_Davie -> (10/9/2000 9:04:00 PM)

Steel Thunder; just a quick question. What value do you have your live delay set to? I've tried setting mine to different values to see if I can pin anything down, but so far nothing consistent. Tom

Tom Proudfoot -> (10/10/2000 1:16:00 AM)

Ok... found this bug and fixed it. It is indeed the pop-up that is causing the crash, so a workaround until a new version comes out is to disable the pop-ups when buying units... setting the delay really high ought to work. Thanks, Tom

Arralen -> (10/10/2000 7:25:00 PM)

test machine: HP Vectra VLi8 (P500, 128MB, G200, ??onboardssound) WinNT4.0 SP6a installed: v4.0 patch 4.1 patch 4.2 patch 4.3b observation generated campiagn, german, buying support; when pointing the mouse to the last unit ... "delete unit xx" shows up, but NO CRASH ?!?! Besides - sounds are disabled, as there are neither speakers not earphones possible here at work Live delay 50, message delay 170. Tom_Davie -> (10/10/2000 8:11:00 PM)

For what its worth, I've tried playing around with the live delay a fair bit, and the general rule of thumb is this; -the greater the live delay setting, the less chance of a crash. -the smaller the live delay setting, the greater the chance of a crash. I try to have the live delay set to 200 when I'm not actually in the battle screen; otherwise it gets set to 0. Tom
