I think the NATO symbol with the waves is for an amphibious unit, IRC

I will check tonight when I get home

Oops !!

My bad, you have the icons loaded, the suffix for the convoy hasn't been updated yet.

Hi, I know you are a land guy - but could you also show some of naval action? Screenshot of naval forces in Singapore port? Or you already eacuated them?

And what are those icons on last screenshot? First from the left (with anchor) and fourth from left (with waves)?

The anchor is a naval HQ and the one with the squiggle is a coastal defense fortress.

Bill

Kaletsch2007 -> RE: ****** OFFICIAL ADMIRAL's EDITION AAR V2***** (10/14/2008 12:36:12 PM)

Hi Andy,
great AAR !!!
My fault, if I got that wrong, but just to be clear about that.
Replacements will not be generated anymore out of the supply pool (or are these convoys in addition to that) ?
Will it work that way for all Allies ?
How about the Japanese ?

Thanks a lot and please go on testing. Can not wait to get that stuff.
Actually playing WitP stock feels like driving a beetle and we are waiting for a Porsche to come.[:D]

Andy Mac -> RE: ****** OFFICIAL ADMIRAL's EDITION AAR V2***** (10/14/2008 12:43:44 PM)

Replacements work as in stock for the allies you have a pool of devices (which may be added to by one off injections from convoys)

They need supply to be deployed from the pool to units

Japanese remain as per stock they generate devices as needed from industry (they have no devices from convoys although there is no reason why they cannot get some)

I fully expect a modder somewhere quite soon after release to add a few German Devices arriving in limited numbers via convoy for the Japanese obviously this is not in for the new base scenarios but as a what if someone will do it I am sure

Andy Mac -> RE: ****** OFFICIAL ADMIRAL's EDITION AAR V2***** (10/14/2008 2:40:44 PM)

The main point to note is the AI's utter dedication to getting to Singapore its done well and is keeping the pressure on.

I managed to avoid retreats and cut off units and tried to stand at Malacca and was bounced out damned quickly.

(OK I am short a few A/T Guns and 18 Pounder Arty Guns and I noticed one of the Bdes had the wrong xp) but still its not bad

Sure, we'll do that. And then we'll reroute all the subsequent whining hate mail to you.[:'(]

always with the negative waves

Andy Mac -> RE: ****** OFFICIAL ADMIRAL's EDITION AAR V2***** (10/14/2008 5:58:25 PM)

Not negative realist - it will be ready when its ready we are going as fast as we can [:D][:D]

Jo van der Pluym -> RE: ****** OFFICIAL ADMIRAL's EDITION AAR V2***** (10/14/2008 7:00:13 PM)

Is't possible to list all the icons/symbols?

Terminus -> RE: ****** OFFICIAL ADMIRAL's EDITION AAR V2***** (10/14/2008 7:06:46 PM)

Well, like Andy said, there's 90 of them, all in one graphics file for each national colour.

So they're a bit small, is what I'm trying to say...[;)]

Andy Mac -> RE: ****** OFFICIAL ADMIRAL's EDITION AAR V2***** (10/14/2008 7:41:10 PM)

Not a lot to say I am running for Singapore as fast as I can

I made a big mistake at Malacca 1 of my Divs was in strat mode which is why I got bounced by such a huge margin.

First of all, thanks for the yummy AAR - since the Elf's appeared on this board, I have restarted to look at the AE section of the WITP formus more often, and this one is a worthy continuation. I think this is an excellent way to keep out excitement boiling, which appeared to fading off a bit.

Still, I was surprised to see that AI is going to try crossing a river with a single unit in spite of the fact that there is notable opposition in the next hex. If it sends the units over one by one, it is going to hurt its forces quite a bit. Should/could that be changed ? I am aware that this will harm the ability to pursue quickly across the river, but isn't that the smaller problem compared to getting threshed over and over again in forced shock attacks ?

Thanks for the good work to get AE going

Hartwig

Andy Mac -> RE: ****** OFFICIAL ADMIRAL's EDITION AAR V2***** (10/14/2008 9:06:06 PM)

It only came over in two waves after this I have a few tweaks to make to the AI anyway I will try to improve this again two of the crossing shock attacks almost worked so I would rather they hadnt done it !!

Andy Mac -> RE: ****** OFFICIAL ADMIRAL's EDITION AAR V2***** (10/14/2008 9:13:27 PM)

Andy Mac -> RE: ****** OFFICIAL ADMIRAL's EDITION AAR V2***** (10/14/2008 9:16:18 PM)

As tactic go its dammed effective down to 600AV so the Japanese have halfed my AV in a week - I would like to rest trrops but the constant shock attacks make that to dangerous if I rest troops they will recover but they are also piss poor at defending and witht he poor set of leaders I have I dare not rely on reserve mode

Its not a good positio to be in

Andy Mac -> RE: ****** OFFICIAL ADMIRAL's EDITION AAR V2***** (10/14/2008 9:16:43 PM)

Maintaining combat mode 24/7 is hard on troops.....

Andy Mac -> RE: ****** OFFICIAL ADMIRAL's EDITION AAR V2***** (10/14/2008 9:44:29 PM)

Going to end this now before Singapore has fallen a new build is out to be tested that fixes a couple of issues I have noticed so we will do another one soon.

Hope you enjoyed it

pad152 -> RE: ****** OFFICIAL ADMIRAL's EDITION AAR V2***** (10/14/2008 10:04:46 PM)

Thanks, would have liked to have seen the aircraft lost screen, the Buffalo I seems to have done very well with few A2A losess.

Andy Mac -> RE: ****** OFFICIAL ADMIRAL's EDITION AAR V2***** (10/14/2008 10:09:48 PM)

It did damned well because I kept it out of the fight and user error (mine) meant that when the AI diverted half of 25th Army for an ealry attack on burma (it does that occasionally to keep folks on there toes.....) it meant that Kuantan was bypassed and Kuantan was a critical air bridge base hence all the Jap air staying in North Malaya......

I wondered why the IJAAF kept out of the fight - now I know and am adjusting !!!!

Andy Mac -> RE: ****** OFFICIAL ADMIRAL's EDITION AAR V2***** (10/14/2008 10:10:37 PM)

I learn somethign about the AI and am able to refine it on every single run through...

Rainer -> RE: ****** OFFICIAL ADMIRAL's EDITION AAR V2***** (10/14/2008 10:15:33 PM)

Andy, they (Matrix) should pay you for that.
It's the most fascinating "marketing" I've seen for a long time.
Thank you very, very much.
And now hurry back to the drawing board/beta test chair and don't waste your time with "fishing for compliments" anymore [;)]
(Tongue in cheek, of course. Please don't stop with this delicious "marketing").
Cheers
Rainer
