pjwheeling -> For Liberty! Question (10/13/2008 5:26:32 PM)

I was just over on the For Liberty! forum and left a post, but then I noticed that no one has been there in many months.
I have a question about the game. Is it sort of a poor man's version of FOF for the American Revolution?
Is it a decent game? I don't particularly care for BOA, which is the only other American Revolution game that I can find.
Is there another one in the works?

Patrick

I may not be the best person to answer your question.  I purchased For Liberty when it was being distributed by Battlefront, before Matrix took that over.

It is not near as involved as FOF, much less of a learning curve and plays at a faster place.  Detail management does not even come close to FOF level.  Detailed Combat is also simpler, but reasonably fun to play.  For some (those who don't like to be bogged down with detail) might prefer the ease of play of For Liberty over a FOF type game.

"Is it a decent game" of course is in the eye of the beholder, but I would say yes.  I don't regret the purchase and if you like the topic, I would say go for it.

Thanks Yogi,

I've read that the game is not getting alot of support. Is it buggy?

Can't help you with the question Patrick. My Battlefront distributed version has played fine on my windows XP machine. Vista might be another thing of course. I also think that there were game changes and updates put out by Matrix, and I have no idea how they may have changed things. I do like the game I have however. A good basic game, if you don't need to be impressed by "glitz" (graphics and sound effects) in order to enjoy a game.

No, I don't need glitz. I think you have answered my questions.
If you had no problems with the Hussar game then I'm sure the Matrix version will be better.
I run Windows XP so that should not be a problem.
