Today i went to Shotley for a shufti.The main gate was open so i went in and had a nose about,on leaving i noticed a very small notice pinned on a telegraph pole.In short its a Planning Application for The redevelopement of the Ganges site into a Retirement Community.(BTW HMS Ganges was one of the RN Training Establishments remembered so fondly by Ex Nozzers)
In UK we have a trend to lose these classic historic buildings for the sake of filthy lucre.Is this the same in the US and Mainland Europe?
