Spechtmeise -> Question Regarding Performance (10/29/2008 8:08:19 PM)

I downloaded an old CC Normandy demo in order to find out whether I like the gameplay or not. The performance on my system was absolutely awful, every click I made had a 3 second lag. Different screen resolutions had no impact on performance. Has this improved? Is it my system?
My system specs: Windows XP Service Pack 3, Pentium 4 3.06 GHz, 2 GB RAM, 512 MB ATI Radeon X 1950 GT.
Thanks!

It's very snappy for me on a similar test system, no lag. However, I don't know what else you may have running or how your system is configured, I can only say that if you do see 3 second lag with CCWAR, it will not be caused by the game itself.

The new release of Wacht am Rhein has been tailored to new systems... one of the reasons for the release.

You should have no performance issues.

I wouldn't think that you would have problems. Your system is far superior to mine (6yr old Athlon 2500XP@1.83GHz, 1.5GB RAM, 128MB Radeon 9600), and the only time that I experience lag is when I play H2H vs Andrew and he's gone over his bandwidth limits for the month.[;)]

Grrrrrrr!

The CCstarter utility is designed to get older versions of Close Combat functioning on Newer systems.. it's not perfect but give it a go. (This is not required with WaR)

I've got a system with similar specs and some of the animations in the game have some lag, although not quite three seconds worth. I'm not sure what might be causing it, but I hope to find out soon. I have no problems running any other (and much more demanding) software. Just be aware that there are definitely some issues at this point.

Spechtmeise -> RE: Question Regarding Performance (10/29/2008 10:45:56 PM)

OK, compatibility mode is the key here. Set it to Windows 98 compatibility, and presto...I assume this won't be necessary with CCWaR

Well, I can confirm it runs smooth on my Quadcore 8200. [:D]
