Yeah a little late and it'd be quite time consuming and not very accurate. The elevations are created by producing a greyscale map that conforms to the shape of the terrain, black being lowest, white being highest and until those colours are given numerical values they're pretty much artbitary. You might have a map where the elevation change is 50 meters and one where it's 2 meters, both have been created using greyscale maps from black to white so to strip one back into say 2 meter graduations by importing the greyscale into photoshop and slicing at set grey ratios will give a vastly different result if you did the same to the other. You'd need to manually create a new set of conversions for each map.
