We have uploaded Close Combat: Wacht am Rhein 4.50.5b Beta to the Members Club for those Members who would like to help us with the testing of the new features and bug fixes for this patch release. We want to make sure that the bug fixes listed have worked as they should and that no new bugs have surfaced because of the changes.

Again this is an early public beta so those who want to help out with the testing may. You can access this public beta as a Private Download as long as you have registered your Close Combat: Wacht am Rhein serial number in our Members Club (Click on the MEMBERS link in the top nav bar).

Changes
• Features and Enhancements
o Display frame rate capped to reduce video card load on certain systems.

• Fixes
o Fixed: Multi-player screen dialogs for modem and serial port settings were not displaying properly.
o Fixed: Viewing reinforcements on the Strategic Screen would not show reinforcement battle group if an active battle group was on the arrival map during the actual current turn.
o Fixed: German AI was not allocating heavy artillery support properly.

Some small questions:

Does it run as one patch or is it a full install?

Can be it installed as a secondary wacht am rhein?

I ask these things because I´m playing one big grand campaign by teams.

It is a small exe update.

It installs over the top of your current installation.



BTW. DL is not available yet... should be up shortly

Ack! I went to "my games" hit "private downloads" for WAR, but got the website not found error when I tried to dl the zip.

It's downloading here fine for me right now so it looks like it's working can you try downloading it again?

German AI handles Arty very well now![sm=happy0065.gif]

What about the SS tank crews wearing Heer uniforms? I know there is an unofficial fix. Will it be adressed in the next patch?

This is a Beta patch of code only

Does the patch have any effect on saved games?

It should not effect saved games.

As always, Back them up though... just in case.

Nah I can't get it to work no matter what I do. It has to have something to do w/ my members account...maybe. I dunno.

Hi

Can you increase the number of man in the squad, 6 to 8 would be great IMHO.

I'm glad with the AI in general, but there are some times it stay is squad in open field than in buildings or wood, can this modified ?

simply because any non owner can join the forum.

You must be a registered owner of the game to access the downloads

are panthers over armored?  I thought the Sherman's 75mm gun is too strong

Both, actually.

I think Panther's frontal armor is something like 150% and the sherman 75 mm is too powerfull at a specific range. I don't remember what range it is but it was discussed on this forum earlier.

All tank armor and tank main guns have been re-checked for the patched and only values that could be verified by 2 separate sources were used

I also am having a hard time downloading the 4.40.5beta patch.

I registered my serial number, am at the private download screen, click on the zip file, and get this:

"This webpage is not available.

The webpage at LINK REMOVED might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.

That link just worked for me.

I have removed it as it is only available to registered players.

got it. turns out it was a problem with firefox or chrome. had to go back to explorer to get the download to work.

now its raining german artillery. sweet.

Is anyone else getting illegal operation crashes with the beta patch? About 1/3 of the time, when loading a new battle (or even worse, when a battle ends), the game jumps out of its screen and crashes.

This is getting tiring!

I can't be certain that it is the patch. All i know is before the patch, it never happened.
I guess its possible that it could be all the number modding i do in the txt files, but I don't know. Seems more likely its something else.

Do a stock install and see if it falls over.

I'm playing 10-15 games a day and it hasn't fallen over once.
