Zipuli -> CCMT and campaign, plus other stuff? (11/18/2008 11:08:01 AM)

Hey!

I am building a "total conversion" mod for CCMT, and I was wondering if is it possible to "bring back" the operations/campaign (CCIV/CCV -style) feature, which is disabled in the main game? A campaign, in the long run, would propably come into question later on when (if) I get that far.

Other question is about ranks. What makes the game assign ranks to individual troops? Is it moddable? I am trying to get realistic ranks for appropriate units/soldiers, but it's more than replacing rank gfx, as "army" seems to have more NCOs than privates in squads etc. Is it determined by experience (1-5 in data-file)?

One more question is if it is possible to have a video played in the opening of the game, like in CCIV/WAR?

BTW the mod I am working on is a modern setting with "army" forces replaced with modern Finnish units, and for OpFor I will either go for our Opfor (boring) or Russian force of some sort. I chose this setting as I think CC engine would do fine in Finnish terrain and setting all together, as there it propably would be mainly close combat in the heavily wooded terrain and urban areas.

So far under works is:
-Finnish TO&E (started with Mech Inf (Karelian Brigade) and propably will expand to a lot more, especially if campaign is possible) with accurate units and weapons
-Followed by OpFor / Russian TO&E (Mechanized/Motorized Bn/Bde units)
-Finnish unit graphics for menus, tanks, etc.
-Replacing ALL "army" related graphics such as ranks etc.
-Some sound files for certain weapons
-Finnish speech files

So 1st phase should have all other data than maps/missions for Finnish vs Russia? encounter. I was thinking of something a bit like Georgian chrisis, not a "full scale" conflict.

If there are able people interested in helping me out with this, please do reply! I know allready how to mess with all the data and gfx/sounds, but stuff like voice actors (Finnish), map making/(importing good maps elsewhere) would be appreciated.

Or would it be better off building it on CCWAR, does it have all the same weapon data (as CCMT) etc. to make a good modern setting mod? I mean by this that is it possible import the stuff I allready edited from CCMT -> CCRAW with not much trouble? At least that one would have operations/campaign as a default workable...

You won't be able to add compain to CCMT neither S3T is.

Ah OK... do you have any idea is turning the project into CCWAR mod a good idea then? I believe WAR has most the values also editable to represent modern units in a decent way (in terms of firepower etc.)? I think I will turn that direction as I am most likely going to make a campaign of some sort at some point... Single battles with no continuation are not very interesting, at least for me...

Now if there was an excel spreadsheet for editing CCRAW text datafiles as there is one for CCMT? Or am I so lucky that both have exactly same structure?

Not sure about exactly the same structure but they will be similar, and there are workbooks for both games.
