sfinlay -> Another VetBob mod question (11/21/2008 3:44:49 PM)

If I install this mod will it fundamentally change the game. I.E. is the mod playable seperatly from within the game or will it change the whole set up ? Just curious. I would like to take a look at the mod to see what can be achieved but as i'm only starting out with CC I don't want to move away completely from the basic game at the moment.

The mod installs in a seperate folder. No need to worry :)
It creates a new shortcut to start it.

So you will have two shortcuts on your desktop.

Click on one and Play Stock WaR.

Have fun destroy the enemy
close WaR

Click on the other shortcut and play VetBoB mod

Have fun destroy the enemy
Close VetBoB

Now Back on the desktop you don't know which to choose, they are both so much fun.

With each "mod" just a shortcut click away playing a mod has never been easier in Close Combat.

Your original game stays intact and your mods are playable without having to plug them in or overwrite files.

Bernds CCModinstaller has even made the initial 1 time only onstallation of a mod just a 1 click job.

Do I notice some kind of irony ? [:D]

But seriously, the difference with the instaler is that is tests the right path (CCE.exe) to make sure that the files will be copied/expanded to the right place. This is an advantage of every installer. IN short, why was CC WaR released with an installer ?

But andrew, as I write this I have a smile on my face and [:)]

We are not in the business of making mods :)

We've been using the /D switch for months without an installer  just unzip to your mod under the WaR folder and create a desktop shortcut ...easy.

We are busy enough as it is without creating ancillory applications.

But

The installer is brilliant and a welcome community addition... I can't thank you enough

Actually, this is how I install and launch different mods from my CC5 mods collection for a few years now...thanks to Bernd's CCStarter Utility [&o]:

Mods will have to be individually installed with the CC5 Config Manager or manually though...Bernd's new CCWARModInstaller is a much better tool.

BTW, how about a CCWAR Starter Utility, Bernd? Something like the CC Starter Util for CCWAR mods.
As the CCWAR mods collection grows...someday we might end up with 20 custom CCWARMod icons cluttered on the desktop [:)]...one tool to select and launch mods might be a better alternative.

If that happens just create a CC WaR Mods folder  just for the mod shortcuts

berndn -> RE: Another VetBob mod question (11/23/2008 9:18:10 AM)

I have the idea to create a small CC WaR launcher similiar to the CCV launcher. But my inventory project takes all my time at the moment. But with not so much mods around I think I have some time.

hehehe... where does all the time go?

Thanks Bernd

It's a very useful feature!
I appreciate it.
