xriz -> PBEM- Rocks! (11/22/2008 7:22:30 AM)

I finaly found some one to play a PBEM campain game and what can I say, playing anther human player is so much better then the AI, there is no comparison.

If you want to realy play this game, play a human.

I completely agree xriz. I cant wait for my first PBEM game but I wanted to wait for the end of the rushes of patches and then I am definitely hoping there will be several players out there waiting for some games.

PBEM sucks. Either one of you be France and I will wipe you out. Not trying to be rude, but if you want to see what PBEM is like in the game, I am here and it is real bad.

The patches have more to do with the AI, then the basic rules of the game. Spadman, er balto is right though, unlike the AI, humans as a coalition player can do a lot more to make Frances’ job a lot harder.

Of course the answer is more production for France to deal with multiple fronts.

And Manpower

balto -> PBEM- not rocks (2/1/2009 10:22:17 PM)

I have not touched this game in many months because the PBEM was not working in that the French could easily be smashed.  There are dozens of posts on this.  Since I knew there was a new patch (1.06), I figured I would revisit this. So I was goofing around with the AI and I was destroying the French worse then I was before.  I decided to look at what the 1.06 patch did.  Please focus the next patch on PBEM play balance for us PBEMers.

Odd but I cannot find the "big list" of changes here so linking to the slitherine forum
http://www.slitherine.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9007

A few things in the list include balances for stronger France in PBEM (but also for all other game modes!)

- France is now slightly stronger early on due to the increase from 8% to 12% from the Corps d Arme' tech
- Increased the manpower capacity for France in all scenarios by 15%

We had AAR on Slitherine forum from 1.06 both with small advantage to France setting and both resulted in clear wins for France. Last I heard is that next time they will try on normal difficulty again since the patch has balanced the issues.

We have ppl claiming that they always win in multiplayer with France and we have those that claim the opposite. But all these observations are with 1.06. Please do make a multiplayer try (with 1.06) before you draw conclusion that is all I ask.  [;)]

Hi.

The small changes for PBEM were less PP for Russia (patch gives them more)' gives French navy a chance to survive beyond turn 2 (that small opening that they could at least try to escape is now closed) , and more wagon moves for France.  But if anyone wants to challenge me with me as the Coalition, here I am.

We just got the first reports in from BALANCED setting 1805 PBEM on Slitherine forum. The ongoing game (on Slitherine forum) has the guy playing France winning. This should hopefully clear things out for those who speculate that the game is not balanced enough, at leist it is no longer loopsided but maybe a split opinion on the issue.

Just wanted to let all involved know that I think you did a very nice job with the 1.06 patch. It is a major improvement over the original version and the preceding patches. I'm actually playing a pbem game on even and winning as the French! I feel both sides had a fairly equal chance at victory, and I just outplayed my opponent this time. So thanks for putting in the work on the patch; the players appreciate it!"
