JD63 -> Stat Map (11/30/2008 12:11:31 AM)

The thing is a postage stamp!!!
Am I missing something?

JD63 -> RE: Stat Map (11/30/2008 12:22:11 AM)

I meant "Strategic Map"...it was much more user friendly in the orig version..is this no longer the case?

Andrew Williams -> RE: Stat Map (12/1/2008 10:14:28 AM)

The new UI has much mor information on it and so leaves a smaller window to view through.

Navigate to your \support folder and print out the  Start connections PDF

C:\Matrix Games\Close Combat Wacht am Rhein\Support\WaR_strat_Connections.pdf

you can then use this to assist your Strat level movements.

Does anyone else get this when playing Classic CCIV?

Look where the red circle placement for the mini strat map is.

Neil N -> RE: Stat Map (12/4/2008 12:23:49 AM)

guess nobody used the overview map during testing.  That's a problem with the coordinates in Stratmap.txt.  Looks like the overview map must have been in the top left corner in the classic version.  Andrew, and that one to the patch list

Any chance someone might have saved the mask they created for the WAR stratmap?
If so could I have a look/copy of it?

It would help me a lot in better understanding how to creat a new strat map.

thanks

You can make it if you put all the strategy map areas on their correct positions from Normandy.tga image. Yes it is hard but it is one solution if you want the original mask. Remember that you have their coordinates on stratmap.txt file.

Platoon_Michael -> RE: Stat Map (12/14/2008 9:55:38 PM)

Yea I was trying to avoid that.

Thank you for the e-mail

Platoon_Michael -> RE: Stat Map (12/21/2008 2:10:09 PM)

Can someone tell me where do the red/green filters for the strat map come from?

I see the STRAMAPAREA files in the ScrnGadg.gdg but I do not understand where the red/green colors come from.
Is it possible to manipulate those 2 colors?
When veiwing the STRAMAPAREA files it looks to me that what ever is black is what gets changed to red or green during the game,is that correct thinking?
Also does anyone happen to know what exactly are the RGB values for both the red and the green?

Probably dumb questions to most of you but I dont know my way around this style of strat map.
Thanks

Straight answer: "No"!

... but it's the same problem as this:

http://www.closecombatseries.net/CCS/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=3951&highlight=hues

I gave up looking for the answer when I noticed it in some of the top notch mods.

It must come from the .exe. It is not new to Wacht am Rhein.

Tejszd -> RE: Stat Map (12/21/2008 5:53:00 PM)

Yes, the shading comes from the exe.

I remember Senior_Drill posted he had found the values in the exe to hex edit them but then couldn't find his notes to post the location. The color values for the shading really should be moved in to the stratmap.txt file....

Platoon_Michael -> RE: Stat Map (12/22/2008 2:14:14 AM)

Looks like the .exe is looking for the black area of the STRAMAPAREA file,if you make it all white or even grey the game doesnt like that very much.

Nomada_Firefox -> RE: Stat Map (12/22/2008 1:49:10 PM)

Probably this graphic error is because you saved one image as 24 or 32 bits, photoshop usually saves them as 24 bits if you do not make one "save as".

Platoon_Michael -> RE: Stat Map (12/22/2008 9:18:06 PM)

Darn,
You might be right on that one.
I did turn one mapover to all white and it worked ok(maybe it can be fudged a little,maybe)
The other four I might have messed up on saving them.

Edit:For just a 10 second test Here's what it ended up looking like.You don't get any map over when mousing over Until you touch the thin red line you see left over.The red line is the outline I left of the stratmap area which is actually saved as yellow.

Thanks Firefox.

Nomada_Firefox -> RE: Stat Map (12/23/2008 2:10:30 AM)

One small question only.

Are you making the old strategy map with the new normandy.tga?

Platoon_Michael -> RE: Stat Map (12/23/2008 10:41:17 AM)

No I like the new strat map,im just looking for a way to get rid of the red/green filters.
I was able to cut a section from the Normandy.TGA and use it for the stratmaparea_000 and it worked.
It was just another 10 second sloppy fix but there was no filter applied.I did like 4/5 different tests.Trying to scale back the black to a very light gray doesnt work.
I think it did however turn red when I moused over when I had the map image installed.Cant remember.
I forgot to take a screen shot.

I don't know anything about CCV but I do miss the CCIV style of creating a strat map.To me CCIV gave you many more options inmho.

Anyone know the image size of CCV's original Normandy.TGA?
