Highblur -> Silencing other weapons? (12/10/2008 7:16:29 AM)

Does someone know if it's possible to add silencers to weapons that don't allready have the option? Perhaps other weapon accessories also.

Weapons.xml has a "silencer" column. An 'x' marks those that are enabled for silencing. I'm pretty sure that all you have to do is add an 'x' in that column for whatever weapon you'd like to be able to silence.

There are also columns for "laser", "optics", "bolt", "launcher", and "duckbill" accessory options.

Thank you very much ShadoWarrior. You were quite right, it works like a charm.

Only thing I found out that I might add is to also assign an appropriate soundfile for the silenced fire, i mostly just used the silenced m4a1 rifle sound except for the 7.62's that were newly silenced, i used aksu soundfile there.

You're welcome. I'm pretty sure that stealing sound files (.wav) from other games, such as JA2 v1.13, will work.

@Highblur

could you explain what you did to pull it off exactly. i looked in the xml but could not find where to put the "x". (an example would be explanatory)
and how do we implement the silenced (m4) sound to the desired gun.

thanks in advance.

I can't be certain but i don't think you're using excel to view it, otherwise its pretty obvious where to put them. So 1st, make sure to use excel or Oxygen to edit that file. If I'm wrong then i'll gladly draw you a diagram or somesuch.[;)]
