FroBodine -> Action Points when hurt (12/14/2008 4:48:46 AM)

My main character took a small amount of damage, about 4 points. I used the first aid kit on him, but now I never have enough APs to do anything. Even sitting around for a few turns doesn't give me enough to take any action other than running around. I can't shoot anymore. What the heck?

I'm using the beta patch. How come I damage the enemy and they continue to fire back, yet I can't. Am I doing something wrong?

The enemies don't seem to follow the same rules as the player's characters must. Enemies can move further, do more actions, fire at you (yet the game says you don't have line of fire back, even when there is nothing blocking you), and take tremendous damage and still hit you with astonishing accuracy.

Yep, I realized that. So, once I'm hit I can never take another action for the rest of the mission? Do I have to complete these missions perfectly, taking no hits? What use is a first aid kit then?

I thought the beta patch cleared this problem up?

what is your gear weight like ? I am able to keep fighting when hit

now there is a point where you are hurt bad enough, that you have no points and are basicly just lying in place, waiting to either die or the mission to end (but you can patch yourself up, this does not sound like the case you are saying)

The first aid kit is really only there to make sure your wounded mercs don't bleed to death on the battlefield. If they get wounded badly enough, they're not going to be any use during the battle. You'll have to sit them out and assign them as "patients" at the strategic screen. Make sure to assign a merc with a high MED value in the "doctor" role with them.

Hard Sarge -> RE: Action Points when hurt (12/14/2008 3:18:03 PM)

yea, but I don't think that is the issue he is having, if the person wounded can use the first aid kit, he is not crippled enough to not do anything, or in danger of bleeding to death, so he is getting something else ? (he says about 4 points of damage, odd, I don't bother with that small of amount of damage, it is not manly to be running around with bandages for a little scatch)

Only if your main character has very low APs to start with shold it work that way. 4 points is not enough to knock my main down below his required action points. What kind of weapon are you using? Is it reloaded? One reason to pack a pistol is also because it's easier to fire when wounded.

FroBodine -> RE: Action Points when hurt (12/15/2008 12:07:42 AM)

Thanks everyone. I'm pretty sure I was right at 50% weight when this happened. I guess I should drop some gear, then? Does carrying less weight give you more APs?

When this happened, I still had the same amount of APs (I think), but it just cost a lot more to shoot. For example, if my pre wound was 14/17 to fire my weapon, after taking the hit it was 20/17 and I couldn't fire. Would dropping weight help with this?

The pistol is a great idea. I'll start packing one.
