Sonny -> PBEM opponent list (4/27/2002 2:24:09 AM)

Is there a thread dedicated to looking for PBEM victim...er opponents? Some sort of sign up sheet. I'm ready for a game the minute the installation is complete.:) Who needs rules - I wanna bumble through just like the real commanders did!

Zenra -> Opponents (4/27/2002 2:53:21 AM)

Sonny,

I'm sure we'll be able to scare up opponents here on this board, for one, but I also read a clip somewhere that WarfareHQ will be setting up / hosting a ladder for UV...

I'll check it out and see what I can find. I'm not really interested in playing any "official competition " games but I will if that is the only way to get opponents.

Zenra -> Opponents (4/27/2002 8:58:22 PM)

Sonny,

It's not the only way - I will certainly be interested in a PBEM game once I get my hands on this beauty...

Snigbert -> (4/27/2002 9:48:57 PM)

It would be nice if there was a list. I dont neccessarily want to pressure of ladder games...especially if a long campaign game could take months.

mogami -> PBEM (4/27/2002 10:04:34 PM)

Hi, Don't worry any one ever wanting a PBEM game only has to send me a first turn or e-mail requesting me to send them a first turn and away we'll go. I have lots of both time and harddrive space. If I am not getting PBEM turns every few hours I'll start experiancing a panic attack. ( "what are they waiting for?....what can be taking so long?...."guess I'll fight the AI for a while?...)

Snigbert -> (4/27/2002 11:11:35 PM)

Mogami:

My email is Snigbert@cs.com

When you get your copy send me a first turn and we can do one of the long campaigns, and I'll take the Americans.

I prefer historical vs no-midway, but I'll play you either way.

mogami -> OK (4/27/2002 11:17:46 PM)

OK I'll take Japan in the June start. Do the Japanese move first?

Sonny -> (4/28/2002 1:58:18 AM)

O.K. let's make this the semi-unofficial list.

I don't have as much time as Mogami but I'll be either side Probably won't play more than 2 games at a time - pick your options.

sirsonny@bellatlantic.net

Zenra -> PBEM (4/28/2002 2:32:09 AM)

Likewise - I'll be interested in a couple of simultaneous games once we have it. I don't have a preference for side, but I do like the idea of the "No Midway" option (like WitSP), but even that is negotiable...

Raskal67 -> Sign me up (4/28/2002 4:31:56 AM)

Well how ever it works I know I am ready to give this a try so snigbert or Mogami Long campaign. I think I will prefer no Midway and 1 Game as Allied 1 as Japanese. My email is raskal67@adelphia.net. I am really jonesing for this game!:eek:

Moose -> (5/1/2002 7:25:30 AM)

Count me in, any conditions. E-mail: rick@moosephoto.com

Point Luck -> I want to play too guys (5/1/2002 7:42:03 AM)

Put me on the list I'm good for a couple of turns a night

U2 -> Stupid question from beginner (5/1/2002 1:50:11 PM)

Hi Guys!

I am not a beginner when it comes to wargaming but I have never played a PBEM game.

My very stupid question is if this is possible with a hotmail adress ot just with "fixed" email adresses that comes with your internet subscription.

Please take some time and help a lost Swede.

LargeSlowTarget -> (5/1/2002 2:15:52 PM)

Two minutes for my northern neighbour. PBEM usually consists of 'saved game'-files send back and forth between the opponents via e-mail attachments. I would presume the usual e-mail providers/programs/addresses will be able to manage that.
I'm not sure what you mean with the address that comes with the subscription. You cannot attach data to the e-mails generated with the e-mail-function on the 'profile'-page of this forum, if that is what you mean. You will have to use your 'normal' e-mail account for PBEM.

Fred98 -> (5/1/2002 2:51:26 PM)

To U2

After you play a turn you send the next turn by email to your opponent.

To send the file you can use either your usual email address or else you can use a hot mail address.

It does not matter which.

Its probably a good idea to use a hot mail address if you are concerned about SPAM.

Stars and stripes all the way here :) I do like the good guys. I will play any scenario, but my preference would be the campaigns.

One other thing you may want to do is get a program called winzip.

It makes the file you send smaller, thus reducing sending/downloading times. Most PBEM games I've been involved with use winzip for the file exchange.

Ron Saueracker -> PBEM list (5/2/2002 8:55:45 PM)

I'm in, any time, anywhere, any side. I'd like to get some time in against the AI to become familiar with the game first however. Nothing worse than having to suffer through the ramifications of a silly error due to a lack of knowledge of the interface. My email is saueracker@videotron.ca Will this full list be posted somewhere on this site?

Supervisor -> (5/2/2002 9:35:25 PM)

I might as well get into the act as well. I'm so rusty I squeak, but diving in might be as good a way as any to blow off the rust :D.

«edit begin»

PREFERRED SIDE : Does not matter

PREFERRED GAME LENGTH : Does not matter

TURNS PER WEEK ON AVERAGE : As many as possible (a minimum level could be set, if need be, otherwise as do as many as you wish)

«edit end»

btw - I went the cheap route and opted for the regular mail ($7), so I will be a few days behind you.

ccoul -> Willing Opponent (5/3/2002 12:14:42 AM)

Count me in. Either side. I prefer campaigns

Jagdwyrm -> (5/6/2002 2:02:22 AM)
