What to do in the UN camp? No one wants to talk to me. Shoot or not shoot, the question now is...[:)]

and another question, I have cleared the sector on map Stream, but there is no profit. Did I missed something?

Blurrk101 -> RE: UN Camp (12/18/2008 4:03:22 PM)

It's either available later in game with a specific plot, or none at all. As for the income, not all maps offer one really.

Yeah, you're onto to something ... Looking at the global_var.lua under the [UN] Camp ... UN_SAFE_FOR_SHAMMY = _NO

This may correlate with the military base [BA]se ... BA_SHAMMY_SAVED = _NO

Perhaps the training facility kicks in with troop spawns once Shammy is saved????

Maybe the revolt begins?

I dunno.

EDIT NOTE : Mountian Village has the quest? MV_GOT_SHAMMY_QUEST = _NO

Blurrk101 -> RE: UN Camp (12/18/2008 4:53:24 PM)

Although the problem is who in world is this Shammy character? All I've got to right now is being back-stabbed by the corp guy. We seriously need to finished the different plots to see what's going on.

I've also noticed there is a faction called the rebels, with a complete branch of combatants inside of the person file, as rebel_ or something, I forgot. [:)]

Edit: I'm on the Butsi part right now, though all I've got to was saving the Shaman(Shammy?) in the Military Base. Could be later, where they form a new nation or such.

Also, I think the Butsi leader is called Shammy.

Blurrk101,

Please let us know how this turns out ... I mean, shammy does sound like the shaman, the leader. Can you take him to the UN camp ? I haven't gotten this far and it sounds like you're the only one whose at this point.

Thanks,
Rob

EDIT NOTE : Yeah ... how the plot works itself out is the big issue ... and getting all the plots sorted out will be a big task since they branch so much!

SlickWilhelm -> RE: UN Camp (1/3/2009 6:02:40 PM)

So, I haven't rescued the Shaman yet, and thus haven't been stabbed in the back by Janus yet. There are three sectors left for me to attack: South Military Base, the U.N. Camp, and the Palace. Which one should I attack next if I want to piss off Janus and have him betray me?

Hard Sarge -> RE: UN Camp (1/3/2009 6:13:58 PM)

hit the base, you should get a email asking you to meet him at his home vill

, go meet with him and then hit the Palace

Um, I went to meet with him and got ambushed by his cronies. Was that supposed to happen?

Hard Sarge -> RE: UN Camp (1/4/2009 4:19:19 AM)

ooops, sorry, didn't want to tip you off :)

but as has been said, before you get to the palace, you have a number of tips, that all is not as it should be

and troops working for your boss, trying to kill you, should be a major tip off that something is not as you think

Chris Bisson -> RE: UN Camp (1/4/2009 12:39:01 PM)

Yes I also playes the battle where the mercenaries of Janus all turn hostile to you in the jungle village. It happened after I rescued the Butsi shaman and I got an e-mail saying to meet at his home village. After that I went to Butsi village and joined them. You can use Butsi troops fr sector garrisons at this point and they are $5,000 credits per squad. Much cheaper and much less effective than the mercs. You can however kill the Janus mercs for thier loot and it is much better. Plenty of machine guns and UN ammo.

I don't know what triggered the e-mail to meet at the "home village" though. I doubt it was the actual rescue of the shaman.

Well, I don't think it was rescuing the Shaman that triggered the "home village" email. I got it after I captured the South Military Base, and the Shaman was not there.

Which is really strange, because now the only two sectors left to battle in are the UN Camp and the Palace. I have not rescued the Shaman yet, even though I agreed to do that long ago with the Butsi. I have simply not seen him yet.

Heh, Sarge. Good thing I came in prepared just in case any funny business happened. [:D]

That is strange... When I went to the base and fought I was carefull to find the Shaman before I left the map. I found him in the last cell on the right side if my memory holds. It has been a few weeks since I did that. I bet you get the "rescue" succeeded by default provided you cleared the map and as long as you were "recruited" by the Butsi chief.

p.s. I went into every cell, I don't think you will see him if you don't enter the cell... I think... hope this helps.

first time I did it, I took one squad and only sent me and Morah forward to do the talking

when the ambush popped, I was able to toss a Nade and drop to the deck, taking out 3 of the close bad guys, Morah took out the sniper in the hut, then had a heck of a fight as the rest of the squad rushed forward, while we got shot up, luckly the blooper is good at hitting huts

the 2nd time I ran it, I killed two of the up close guys, Dragon dropped the other one, CC was standing in the hut, right behind the sniper (blew him out the window)Digger, got 3 of the window Merks with his MG, a few nades insides of the huts finished off most of the rest, very slight damage on my end

but unless you "know" it is a ambush, it is a fun battle

was going to put spoiler on this one, but if you got this far into the post, you got a idea on what is going on

Son of a....Wouldn't you know it, I think I went into every cell except for a couple. I'll have to check that out again.

If you capture the base before you unlock Butsi Village, you won't find him. And if you want to piss off Jenas and don't want to lose control territory, Just capture the airport then hit the palace. It isn't necessary to kill all guard just use one of your merc go to under Heli pad, then talk to dictator accept his offer just this you won't have to fight the rest of the guard and get dictator territory under you control. You will lose a few territory which is roadblock, road to airport, Trainstation and Airports but you get more income than work for Jenus very fast.

Hrmm... all cells locked, no keys on any guards, no way to pick the lock. How did you manage to get into the cells?

SlickWilhelm -> RE: UN Camp (1/12/2009 4:09:28 PM)

Interesting. The cells were unlocked for me. Although, I never did find the Shaman in any of them.

Bambr -> RE: UN Camp (1/13/2009 1:46:25 PM)

For me it was all unlocked too... Anyway, I played my first time and it doesn't require to talk to Shaman to join Butsi... If you take the Military Base and talk to leader of Butsi it will start the same dialog as if you would talk to Shaman...

LimeyBugger -> RE: UN Camp (1/15/2009 8:55:07 AM)

Specifically, it seems you need to accomplish a few things to get on the Butsi side.

1. Talk to the NPC in house by the railway station, who asks for fares to be lowered.
2. Talk to the station boss, and get them lowered
3. Return to the NPC from #1, and he sends you to the Butsi village
4. Go to the village, talk to the chief. He tells you to rescue Shammy
5. Go to the southern base - talk to Shammy in the cell (last on right in the prison).
6. Return to the Butsi chief - now you can recruit Butsi warriors - though previously hired mercenaries become hostile.
7. [unknown - haven't finished the game to see how things turn out]

Done all these, the U.N. plot never seemed to open up at all. I ended up just killing the dictator and became the president of Diamond Coast.

So does anybody ever played the U.N. plot at all?

ermcool -> RE: UN Camp (6/1/2011 4:44:17 PM)

I attacked it one time, it was to easy.
