SeanD -> First Major Update for Hired Guns: The Jagged Edge (12/18/2008 7:16:41 PM)

A crucial bug fix and plenty of balance tweaks come careening across the African countryside and onto hard drives!

Matrix Games and GFI (www.gfi.su) are pleased to announce the release of a major first update for the turn-based tactical hit, Hired Guns: The Jagged Edge. The comprehensive update brings the game to version 1.07.001 and provides many gameplay tweaks and a fix to prevent the “vanishing squad” icon bug appearing in new games started with this updated version.

Specifically, camera restrictions were substantially reduced to provide much more zoom and pan freedom in tactical mode, the AI now throws grenades less frequently and less accurately, weapons and mercenaries are now more lethal overall, weapons and armor appear more frequently at the weapons store, and other tweaks to make the game easier and more balanced on the “Newbie” and “Mercenary” difficulties.

David Heath, Director of Operations at Matrix Games, said “Players who found the game too difficult or unbalanced at the Mercenary or Easy levels should definitely download this update. The game has been improved substantially in many areas and the overall Hired Guns experience is now much more enjoyable!”

Hired Guns: The Jagged Edge is a turn-based strategy game that puts you command of a squad of specialists for hire in the genre’s biggest game-world yet: the African country Diamond Coast. Diamond Coast is a playground for the cruel and corrupt, each with their own agenda. Choose your friends wisely and buy an army of ruthless mercenaries to unleash mayhem on your foes. Choose “jobs” from different factions and complete them for cash to upgrade your weapons and hire more elite soldiers of fortune.

Tons of firepower and plenty of combat experience will give your team the edge when it comes to fighting, but smooth talk and a wad of bills can also go a long way towards ensuring success. With multiple story lines and endings, you’re in total control of your own fate.

Get the update here. The update is comprehensive and will bring all versions of the game up to version 1.07.001.

Is there any difference between this release and Beta 2?

Erik Rutins -> RE: First Major Update for Hired Guns: The Jagged Edge (12/18/2008 7:29:34 PM)

Nope, we're just making Beta 2 the first official update and sending it out to the great wide world.

JustSomeGuy -> RE: First Major Update for Hired Guns: The Jagged Edge (12/18/2008 10:18:12 PM)

Where should we post outstanding bugs?

JSG

Erik Rutins -> RE: First Major Update for Hired Guns: The Jagged Edge (12/18/2008 10:33:16 PM)

Now that it's official, please post bugs as usual in the Tech Support sub-forum. Just please note what version you are playing the game on (and what version you started on) when reporting.

Bishop746 -> RE: First Major Update for Hired Guns: The Jagged Edge (12/20/2008 10:58:41 PM)

Just a post to let you know what a great game this is.  I'm glad companies are still investing in games like this.

Sainty -> RE: First Major Update for Hired Guns: The Jagged Edge (12/23/2008 7:44:47 PM)

I havent played with the newest update yet but I really hope that its not possible anymore to survive a direct headshot with a hand gun from 1 meter away. [8|] I played the first map with v1.07 and was so dissapointed that you really had to shoot a guy 5-7 times with a pistol while you stand infron of him before he even fell to the ground unconcious. And the next turn he just stood up and walk away like nothing happend [X(]

Shotgun works fine tho, except that the enemy still had his head attached to his shoulders [:@]

I can't say I've had that experience, though I've had to shoot someone two or three times if they have a kevlar helmet. With that said yes, it should be much less probable if you apply the update.

RinoaHeartily -> RE: First Major Update for Hired Guns: The Jagged Edge (12/26/2008 1:16:33 AM)

A question. Will there be a 2nd major update? If yes, what are the fixes or features we will able to see?

Stealth_Hitman -> RE: First Major Update for Hired Guns: The Jagged Edge (2/7/2009 7:53:30 AM)

yea when is a 2nd patch gonna come out? hmm [:D][:'(][&:][8D]

Erik Rutins -> RE: First Major Update for Hired Guns: The Jagged Edge (2/7/2009 1:51:26 PM)

Yes, there will be a second update. It's in the works and the last news I was was to expect it from the developers very soon. We'll check in with them again next week.

Stealth_Hitman -> RE: First Major Update for Hired Guns: The Jagged Edge (2/7/2009 2:01:13 PM)

yay thanks for the info [:D]

Harvester -> RE: First Major Update for Hired Guns: The Jagged Edge (2/8/2009 2:44:42 AM)

This is great news. [:)]

Erik Rutins -> RE: First Major Update for Hired Guns: The Jagged Edge (2/18/2009 2:59:58 AM)

Just FYI, latest news is that we are likely to get the update from the developers by the end of this week. If that happens as expected, we'll put it through our internal testing, give it a short period as a public beta and then make it official.

pecocus -> RE: First Major Update for Hired Guns: The Jagged Edge (2/27/2009 12:16:04 AM)

Hi Erik... any updates?

Erik Rutins -> RE: First Major Update for Hired Guns: The Jagged Edge (2/27/2009 1:29:44 AM)

Yes, unfortunately they didn't get it to us before going on vacation, but we're expecting it as soon as they return in a week. It should take us a week to give it some testing here and validate the installer, at which point we'll make it a public beta for a week and then make it official if all looks good.

Stealth_Hitman -> RE: First Major Update for Hired Guns: The Jagged Edge (2/28/2009 2:49:26 AM)

Why is it every time a patch is made its around vacation time for the patch team lol

SlickWilhelm -> RE: First Major Update for Hired Guns: The Jagged Edge (3/3/2009 1:39:44 AM)

Probably because software developers work like dogs, and need a break after a major release or a patch. [:)]

SlickWilhelm -> RE: First Major Update for Hired Guns: The Jagged Edge (3/6/2009 3:23:54 PM)

Still no word?

Erik Rutins -> RE: First Major Update for Hired Guns: The Jagged Edge (3/6/2009 3:25:01 PM)

Still waiting on them, sorry guys. We are following up constantly.

Stealth_Hitman -> RE: First Major Update for Hired Guns: The Jagged Edge (3/9/2009 4:18:59 AM)

I want to know what the file size is of the patch and will it be a cumulative patch.

Erik Rutins -> RE: First Major Update for Hired Guns: The Jagged Edge (3/9/2009 3:30:50 PM)

Not sure on file size, but yes it will be cumulative.

Erik Rutins -> RE: First Major Update for Hired Guns: The Jagged Edge (3/18/2009 6:11:32 PM)

We did receive the update from the developer, but found some issues in our internal testing that required us to kick it back to them for another iteration. Hopefully we'll get another build to test this week, I'll keep you posted.

Stealth_Hitman -> RE: First Major Update for Hired Guns: The Jagged Edge (3/18/2009 11:16:37 PM)

thanks for the update

Chris Bisson -> RE: First Major Update for Hired Guns: The Jagged Edge (3/22/2009 11:40:28 PM)

Is there any word as to what issues the patch will cure?

Erik Rutins -> RE: First Major Update for Hired Guns: The Jagged Edge (4/1/2009 8:46:42 PM)

We have another revision from the developer to test. Sorry for the delay folks, we're working with them to try to speed this up, but we don't want to release anything with new issues.

The focus of this update is primarily on resolving any reported crash or other serious bugs reported since release.

Regards,

- Erik

Erik

I purchased this game at the end of February and to this day the game is still unplayable, just leaving the game running on my desktop will lock or crash my PC. I've reported my problems along with how to repeat them. It's now been six weeks and still no patch and no update in the past two weeks, can you please keep us updated!

Stealth_Hitman -> RE: First Major Update for Hired Guns: The Jagged Edge (4/19/2009 9:49:41 PM)

They always keep us updated and it bet the patch still isn't finished being tested.

Erik Rutins -> RE: First Major Update for Hired Guns: The Jagged Edge (4/21/2009 8:15:00 PM)

Sorry guys, we are getting very close to what we feel is a release candidate. We will post it up as a public beta for at least a week to see if it resolves your issues before making it official.

cakefart -> RE: First Major Update for Hired Guns: The Jagged Edge (4/22/2009 6:46:26 AM)

Eric:care to elaborate what kind of fixes is expected? Fixes to a.i, fixes to LOS, new bandanna colours?
