GIJim -> Siege/Cairo (12/18/2008 8:26:35 PM)

Hey guys. I was just playing a PBEM game and it's still early in the war (about 7th turn). I'm the Confederate, of course, and successfully laid siege to Cairo, as well as, defeated an enemy "rescue" force. No Union units were in the province, none in the city, in fact, I garrisoned Cairo. Next turn, I started building a fort and was again attacked. The Union player not only got the terrain bonus but also a bonus for fortification. I don't get it. Am I missing something?

Was your siege completed or did his defending unit(s) withdraw with the defeated rescue force? I was wondering if this is linked to the unoccupied city issue.

Siege was complete. Cairo's fortifications was down to zero. In fact, like I said, I garrisoned Cairo. After he kicked me out, he had to lay siege to Cairo again.

Ironclad, I forgot to mention. In fact, Cairo turned red after I took it.

Anybody else experience this?

I think I figured it out. I reviewed the turn and he had an independant brigade in the province. I guess that prevented me from actually "owning" the province. This should be corrected though. I owned the city and probably outnumbered that brigade by 10/15 to 1.

same thing happened in our game, you had 1 brigade that you mustered the same turn as the city was supposed to be captured by me.

I didn't realize that. I guess I only complain when it negatively affects me.

not that it would have changed anything anyway [:D]
but seems there might be a minor issue with this
