Mraah -> CANTEENS ??? (12/20/2008 8:14:39 AM)

flankspeed,

Since your grenade mod works, I have an idea ...

I noticed that first aid kits heal a little "breath" as well .... so, would it be possilbe to make a medkit that doesn't heal BUT refreshes our breath a little bit?

If you need an icon for it I'm sure I can scrounge up a "modified" canteen image from somewhere.

Thanks,
Rob

EDIT NOTE : Perhaps even another type of beverage ... Nuka Cola ... whatever [:D] ... Just something to wet our lips before pulling the trigger.

I'll take your word for the breath restore on the medkit, have not noticed this myself. Unfortunately it's not possible to do what you want for two reasons.

1. The medkit only has one stat marked "resource". Not anything helpful like "hp's restored" and "breath restored".
So as is there is no way to separate the healing part of the medkit, from the breath restore part.

2. The game only lets you use a medkit on a wounded merc...not a healthy one. "Hey Bizon hold still while I shoot you so you can use your breath canteen"

If you have any other ideas feel free to ask though.

flankspeed,

Thanks for looking into it .... It's really odd how they don't have canteens in HG ... oh well.

no problem, wasn't a bad idea.
Breath is better since the patch but still has issues.
My guys getting tired from walking is really annoying. Real soldiers can march for miles. Mine can't even get half way across the map! BAH

flankspeed,

After looking at almost all the files in the HG directory I've come to the conclusion (when I checked the file changes from v1.07.001) that all the data that we need to make changes to stats and adding new stuff must be inside the BIN folder .... the DLL's .

[:(]

It's a little disappointing when we cann't even mod a simple thing.

Hopefully Matrix can get a patch out where it can read a basic text file that can be easily dropped into a directory so it reads that file first over anything hard coded.
This we can add or modify the basic stuff.
Rob
