Warhorse -> K'talan Mod (12/23/2008 1:46:41 PM)

Decided to make this the standard post, since posting the link down in post #15 might get overlooked. I don't have a special mods forum per say here. Here is the last version I will do of this, unless there would be some serious interest in it, which seems unlikely anymore, too bad. I revamped the mod, it is now not just a mod, but it's own game with Germany, Russia, US, British, French, and a few other countries all as Axis nations, so they may battle the K'talan(Allied) This download should get put in it's own folder, I think, as I tested it here, if you just unzip into your hardrive, it should make a sub-folder under Matrix Games\John Tillers Campaign Series
K'talan Mod. You may want to just make a new UNZIP folder on your hard drive and unzip it there, see how the structure is, then move the whole new folder under the Matrix Games install as above. It should do it though, it did on my machine. There are only two scenarios right now, 'cause I'm not a designer, and no-one stepped up to help. There are also to playable DCG's, Crushing the Bugs, and Hell in the Desert. To play the latter one, use the included JSGME to load in the Afrika Corps campaign file, this way all you will meet up with are correct units, not some other German formation! Also for the desert, do the same thing to use the K'talan desert camo units, since Belgium (K'talia) doesn't use the icons the same as Germany and some others, that is a code issue I can't do anything about. Adding in the desertt units as a mod with JSGME does work good. If when you complete a scenario in a DCG, it appears to crash after congratulations from the General, just restart the game and resume. This is most likely a result of Belgium(slot #12) not originally being in the DCG program list.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, I spent a lot of time on this venture, more than I probably should have!! The file is around 246+mb, so any folks having some download windows for large transfer, like satellite internet or something, you may want to check if you need to download at 2AM or something? If you have a problem downloading, make sure you have javascript enabled, cookies also, some AV might need shut off while you download also, most don't have a problem though.

Here is the link, enjoy and Merry Christmas!!

Thanks Mike!!

Warhorse -> RE: K'talan Mod (12/24/2008 2:13:03 PM)

No problem, enjoy!! A note, when you finish a campaign scenario, and the general congrats, or whatever, the game will usually appear to crash. Just restart the game and continue the DCG, not sure why it does that?!

HoustonAerosFan -> RE: K'talan Mod (3/24/2009 3:43:42 AM)

What does the mod do?

Warhorse -> RE: K'talan Mod (3/24/2009 11:23:26 PM)

It is a mod that basically lets you play with 21st century military hardware against the WW2 opponents. It is based on Harry Turtledoves WorldWar series of books, which inspired me to make it, here is a link to help you-http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harry_Turtledove#Worldwar_.26_Colonization_Series.

Let me know what you think....

I've since made some graphics changes for desert warfare etc., but will only post them if I feel the demand ins there, as I have a lot on my plate right now in the Beta Brigade!!

Thanks for your interest!

Mike

HoustonAerosFan -> RE: K'talan Mod (4/11/2009 11:04:52 PM)

The WF one seems to have been taken down again..........

Warhorse -> RE: K'talan Mod (4/12/2009 1:16:35 AM)

Thanks, Houston, seems no-one downloads that one for some reason, and they will delete it after awhile. I put it back up, again, thx for the heads-up!!![&o]

First post has the correct link in place again.

Warhorse -> RE: K'talan Mod (12/19/2011 10:17:05 PM)

Ok, as soon as I finish playing this one scenario for testing with the WF revamp, I'm going to remove the EF and old WF K'talan files. The revamped WF one will be the only version, not too much interest it seems in this type thing, from lack of response, SO am going to just do the WF one and call it done on this. I had planned on a revamped EF and a RS version also, but no-one seems to have any interest, there were 11 downloads of EF, and 6 of WF, but 0 feedback, I've wasted way too much time on this!! I will now switch gears to my RS Korean War mod, which I think is a much more interesting venture anyway, and get that out. Stay tuned....

Mike,
My wifes car died and we had to buy a new one so I really have not had time to build the Map of Charleston yet but Christmas may come early. If all your doing is the west front mod should I just build the maps using that engine?

Warhorse -> RE: K'talan Mod (12/20/2011 9:18:48 PM)

Dang man, that sucks, sorry to hear of your misfortune.... Yes, pretty much going to just go with the WF one for now, haven't got any feed back from any of the folks that downloaded it, and I just redid everything, just too much time to do it. I enjoy it, but if no-one is using it, whats the point?! Anyhow, the Korean War mod is years in the making, and does have scenarios ready to go, maybe I'll shoot that one out for Christmas.

marcbarker -> RE: K'talan Mod (12/20/2011 11:09:51 PM)

OK I appreciate the hard work involved in this. I know what it means to really dive into a mod. I think matrix or the Blitz have a nomination each year for Developer of the year...that it would take many aspects of making the stock game into overdrive and create a niche for that upgrade.

Warhorse -> RE: K'talan Mod (12/20/2011 11:34:08 PM)

Hey Marc,

Don't download that yet, if you see this, gonna delete the old ones, and upload the release one for WF, just played around with the second scenario some more, got my butt spanked as K'talans!! Hopefully the edits will make it winnable for them.

Mike

marcbarker -> RE: K'talan Mod (12/20/2011 11:37:45 PM)

Sure thing...you do great work by the way...how the heck did you come up with the map mod white paper

Warhorse -> RE: K'talan Mod (12/21/2011 12:00:00 AM)

Thanks man! Do you mean the map conversion thing I wrote? If so, alot of years of big-time tinkering!! Can't keep my hands out of stuff, just wish I knew programming, or Accel like you do, that scenario viewer is just awesome, can't wait to check it out! Hey, just for kicks, is there any way, while making a scenario, that the points used in purchasing could be viewed?

Thanks again!

Mike

Warhorse -> RE: K'talan Mod (12/21/2011 12:30:21 AM)

OK, here is the final version of the K'talan mod, only version is for WF. I've redone the screens, icons, and some other items. There are now Germans, Russians British, Americans, French, and some others to fight against the aliens. There are two scenarios to start, and two DCG's included, this file is 246+mb, so it is large! This is a self-contained game, not just a mod, unzip into your main hardrive, it should create the directory Matrix Games\John Tillers Campaign Series\K'talan WF. DO NOT overwrite an existing install!! This has edited exe's and game files for this mod, so it needs it's own install! There is a doc in the zip called K'taln Mod Background. doc for an intro. Enjoy!

EDIT: Please refer to post #1

marcbarker -> RE: K'talan Mod (12/21/2011 9:46:45 AM)

you ,ean points used in like combat mission? I have not thought of that aspect...hmmmmscenario viewer for combat mission....dang now that would be cool...the 3d graphics is there and could be done in xml ...dang bo you have me going into a tangent universe thanks dude

Warhorse -> RE: K'talan Mod (12/21/2011 9:27:56 PM)

Exactly, for like figuring out the points expended to buy the units, for Victory calculation, this is my biggest weakness, figuring out the dang victory conditions in a scennie. Just don't get it!!

LOL, just what you needed, eh, a tangent??!! Brother I hear ya, constantly taking those myself!!![:D]

marcbarker -> RE: K'talan Mod (12/21/2011 10:53:31 PM)

Mike, this is what I am talking about what a forum is for. Not slanted one way or the other just open to ideas and a fresh look at something else a different way

Warhorse -> RE: K'talan Mod (12/21/2011 11:12:28 PM)

Agreed!!! Good stuff.

Mike

marcbarker -> RE: K'talan Mod (12/22/2011 12:02:09 AM)

Mike, how well do you know visual basic

Warhorse -> RE: K'talan Mod (12/22/2011 1:52:09 AM)

Alas my friend, absolutely zilch.... Why do you ask? I would like to learn it though!

Mike

marcbarker -> RE: K'talan Mod (12/22/2011 9:36:04 AM)

Because I have some ideas about the use of visual basic tie ins to your mod my scenario viewer and the unit viewer schema

Warhorse -> RE: K'talan Mod (12/22/2011 9:18:50 PM)

Awesome !! Wish I knew it, sorry man...

Mike

Warhorse -> RE: K'talan Mod (12/24/2011 3:40:19 PM)

A fellow had this the other day, he was using Firefox. I believe he had to disable the pop-up blocker, and allow cookies and make sure javascript is enabled. Sorry this is such a hassle, I have no other option for delivery! I'll try to find the thread.

From the Korean War Mod thread- My fellow wargamers - I was able to use Mozilla Firefox to download Korean War mod so kindly made available by Mike Amos - I had to disable some Firefox add-ons including Ad Blocker Plus - this allowed a separate window on the RapidShare website to appear that allowed me to register myself on the site - once registered I was able to complete the download ! Hope this will help all of you having problems with downloads even if you are using other browsers. Merry Christmas to All ! Happy Holidays as well !

Mike
