helop5 -> Virus in Dowload v1804 (12/24/2008 10:05:03 PM)

I just bought the game and went to download the patches. Everytime I download the v1804 comprehensive patch my anti-virus program quarantines the witprec.exe file with a virus. Is there somewhere else I can get the update? HELP!

It's a false positive.  Some AV program flag witprec.exe as a virus.  It isn't.

I can count on that? You are positive? I would hate to kill my computer!

Yep, it has happened before. What AV are you using and what version?

If you google witprec.exe, there are about 1200 hits on people who ran into the same problem.  It's well documented.

Guys, thank you. I just have to run it with my anti-virus program shut-off. Even restoring the file doesn't solve the problem. When I launch the game the virus progam immediately quarantines the file.

Good luck then... often when the file is quarantined, it is "sanitized" first - which pretty much destroys the functionality of the file. This requires reinstallation.

Contact your anti-virus provider and ask them if you can specify an exception for a false positive...

AVG had this problem, but updated within a day or so to correct it... i forget all the other programs that also labelled it as false positive, but i think there were several.
