wobbly -> Has the wife won at last??? (1/8/2009 6:56:44 AM)

So, I've been reading a few posts on the forum, a few AARs and so I figure, what the hey, I'll take out WitP and load her up again.

How do you say 'cyclic redundancy check' without adding an expletive at the end?

This was a download copy that has long since passed out of download ability.

I legitimately own a copy, and while I have not been on the boards as prodigiously as I used to, I used to be a reasonably active member of the forum.

Is there any way to get another copy that wont make the copyright gods angry?

Wobbly

There is a way, iirc... it involves finding your original order number and contacting Matrix and/or Digital River... i think you also need your original credit card (or at least its number).

The issue is that I have moved house. I have changed banks, and I have changed email addresses!!! Talk about try my very best to make sure I can't play it again!

I'll try and get CD cleaners on the job but it is only a copy so I don't hold out much hope with that avenue.

i suppose you could always buy it again... i take it from your comments that your CD damaged/dirty? There are repair kits available (Optifix, and others) that might be able to restore a damaged CD.

If you insist on just burning your own copy, try something like http://dvdisaster.net/en/

Wobbly still had his serial number written down so when he found a copy he was good to go.

Yes, thankfully operation "pull your finger out" managed to sort things. With some valuable help from members on the forum I managed to get the old beast working again.

Thanks to all those concerned - I am very grateful (the wife is not so much - but then I'm a "stay at home dad" now and she had knitting...)

I have the same problem, I saved the install program to a cd, but it is corrupted. How did
you resolve your problem Wobbly?

USSLockwood -> RE: Has the wife won at last??? (2/13/2009 3:46:10 PM)

Never mind, fixed the problem. Put the save disc in the drive of another computer
on my network and read the setup program with no problem. Just a matter of transferring
the file to the new computer and, voila, WITP installed!
