No sweat, a little bit of adversity in a game keeps sharp! Perfect season here we come!!!

How did QB Martinez do against his old team the Dragons, the team he took to the Metro Bowl, then benched and released him?

When did the Dragons release him?

Whew, close game.

Reaser -> RE: Metro Football League - Season 6 (1/31/2009 6:35:04 PM)

Damn, what happend to the defending champs.  We've completely fallen apart, no defense, offense not as explosive as it was.  We didn't lose anyone and we gained a better RB yet we're a 2nd tier team now.  HAVE TO win our last 4 games to even have a chance at the playoffs, at least we have the worst team in the East next, if we somehow manage to lose that then not only would our season be over but it would be deservingly so.

Marauders -> RE: Metro Football League - Season 6 (1/31/2009 7:15:31 PM)

It's too bad the Dragons didn't defeat the Makos a few weaks ago. I'm not sure if the Makos will make good use of that win, and the Dragons just may need it.

He was released in the offseason and then picked up by the Spartans in the FA draft.

Hmm. I'm going to have to start reporting the player releases just as I do the retirements.

Got the easy win, still crazy though, I'll trust the team but Hagen with no catches, and they already tried to cut him, what the hell is going on in St. Cruze, who's running things there, best player in the league last year and now he's nowhere to be found during the games, have a feeling that could hurt us this season...

Looks like Hagen has been out a couple of times due to injury this season, Reaser. That's why he was not showing up in a couple of the games. However, not all injuries are showing up on the 'team news' page in MF which is what I check each week for injuries. Just noticed it this week when I saw that Knight QB (CPC) was not showing up on the depth chart for my current sim session. But, when I checked the 'team news' page there was no injury listed for him. So, checked the Cape City injury list and there he was. So, looks like I'll have to start checking each teams injury list along with the news page each week, as well.

Here's what i mean...

Reaser -> RE: Metro Football League - Season 6 (2/2/2009 6:04:43 PM)

ah ok, that makes sense then...thanks for letting "us" know...

at least we have an excuse for this season, our star WR has been injured.  Injuries, same reason my Seahawks didn't get anything done this season...[:)]

Reaser -> RE: Metro Football League - Season 6 (2/2/2009 6:07:03 PM)

Oh, noticed CPC has an owner, assuming each team does, any significance to the owners, obviously theres the formula for keeping and firing head coaches so I'm assuming the owner is just a name???  Still would be cool to know the name of the Makos owner so I can blame him for everything this season since I like our coach...

DreamTeams -> RE: Metro Football League - Season 6 (2/2/2009 10:55:22 PM)

Yes, the owner is just a name and has no significance. Filled those names in early on because it looked funny with the blank spaces.

The owner name for the Makos is Chip Paddington.

DreamTeams -> RE: Metro Football League - Season 6 (2/3/2009 12:00:21 AM)

Week Eight results have been posted.

How close did the St. Patrck Keltics come to losing their undefeated status?

Which team has earned a playoff birth?

Marauders -> RE: Metro Football League - Season 6 (2/3/2009 1:47:39 AM)

Finally some defense!

Looks like we finally have a good season. [8D]
Go Comets.

Reaser -> RE: Metro Football League - Season 6 (2/3/2009 7:07:21 PM)

Our Owner Chip Paddington needs to make some moves for next season.  This one looks like its over, 5 losses isn't getting it done, there goes our chance at repeating.

With the large league size (24 teams), it may do well to have eight teams make the playoffs rather than six. It's not my league though, so it is just a suggestion of a future option.

DreamTeams -> RE: Metro Football League - Season 6 (2/4/2009 5:02:05 AM)

Actually thought about it more than once, Marauders. Probably will again this offseason. But, making the playoffs an eight team affair never makes the cut because it would eliminate the bye which is a bonus for winning the conference championship. I'm partial to that format. There are other reasons, as well, but I've posted those before.[:)]

Marauders -> RE: Metro Football League - Season 6 (2/4/2009 7:38:30 AM)

I understand.

Because I don't really like playoffs bye games in any sport, it wouldn't be a big deal for me, but it's your league and your rules.

The reason I brought it up was that teams with four losses already can be pretty much out of it.  Over the last few seasons, when the Dragons got to four losses, I pretty much thought they were done.  They could have come back and run the table, but the likelyhood was pretty low.

In any case, many community members like to keep an eye on your league, so please keep it up as long as you are having fun with it as well.

Reaser -> RE: Metro Football League - Season 6 (2/4/2009 5:35:07 PM)

I've said it in the past but I like playoff format as is, 1/4th of the league makes the playoffs, how it should be, only the best of the best, instead of like NBA of NHL where over half the teams make it (I know thats not what was suggested, just think for playoffs it should be the elite teams)...

Yeah, many people like that, and it is quite fine.

DreamTeams -> RE: Metro Football League - Season 6 (2/10/2009 7:27:26 AM)

Week Nine results have been posted.

Who are the tree-time Eastern champs?

Many teams are still in the hunt as we head into the final two weeks of the season.

Marauders -> RE: Metro Football League - Season 6 (2/10/2009 3:46:53 PM)

That is domination!

One team looks unstoppable, which means they will likely lose in the playoffs.  [;)]

Oh crusty cleats, the Dragons lost.  They may back their way out of the playoffs.

Reaser -> RE: Metro Football League - Season 6 (2/10/2009 8:31:57 PM)

well our season is over, wish I knew what happend, we just fell apart...way to defend the title gentlemen...[8|]

Marauders -> RE: Metro Football League - Season 6 (2/10/2009 8:41:23 PM)

Yeah, the champs are out of it.

Perhaps they will have a nice draft and do better next season.

DreamTeams -> RE: Metro Football League - Season 6 (2/13/2009 8:21:51 AM)

Week Ten results have been posted.

The Keltics put their undefeated record on the line in Cape City. Did they succeed?

Two more teams have made the playoffs! Who's dead? Who's still alive?

garysorrell -> RE: Metro Football League - Season 6 (2/14/2009 1:48:20 PM)

Did knight get injured? Messer had the Corsairs playing like the team of a couple years ago.

garysorrell -> RE: Metro Football League - Season 6 (2/14/2009 1:52:57 PM)

Ok...just checked the injuries...week 7, gone!

3-0 under Messer as starter??? Hmm......

Reaser -> RE: Metro Football League - Season 6 (2/14/2009 9:01:18 PM)

Hopefully we lose again next week for a better draft pick, all we have to look forward to now...[:@]

Frido1207 -> RE: Metro Football League - Season 6 (2/14/2009 11:40:05 PM)

What a turnaround. What a great season for us. We are in the playoffs.
Time to put my paperbag where it belongs: the trashcan. [:)]

It's been a good year for the Comets.

Brandenburg has a good offense. I hope the Dragons don't have a let down. I don't know which tie breakers are in place, but I'd hate to see them get bumped in the last week.

Marbro sure has hit the skids. They have often had good teams.

Actually Dunberry is the other team that has already made the playoffs beside the Comets and the Keltics. Even if they lose in the final week they're still in. Here's why..

1) Brandenburg can't catch them because of the tie on their record so they won't get to seven wins which the Dragons already have.

2) The Cyclones and the Corsairs play in this final week of the season. The winner will be in (7-4) and the loser out (6-5).

So the winner of that game will join the Keltics and the Dragons as the third representative from the East in the post-season.
