turbospeeder -> crash crash crash (1/16/2009 7:07:45 PM)

This program crashes more than a blind 8 year old trying to drive! Such a shame what a awsome game if it was stable. Been waiting for a WWI game for years.

Any help?

Turbospeeder,

Have you updated to the latest v1.05f update yet?

Regards,

- Erik

Yes using 105f.  I was able to get passed the spot that was crashing, but two turns later, crash.  Maybe 105g will do the trick

Tried it with Windows firewall and Anti-Virus off?

Andrew

I understand you are trying to help, I do, and if your question of turning off Windows Firewall and Anti virus are just for trouble shooting, then fine...but it seems to me more and more developers/publishers/support staff ask customers to turn off security programs all too often.

In this world of constant connection with broadband, turning off firewall and anti virus is a big no-no...even for a few seconds...the damage cana be done.

Unlike companies, most users are not behind a hardware firewall, so it should be fronwed upon to suggest such things.

As for the users issue, I haven't tried 5f yet, but prior to that, in the games I started, I can't remember having a ctd.

Perhaps you should post your system specs...key things like operating system, amount of RAM, graphics card + version of graphics card drivers should be all that's required.

Have you tried running up a hill in a thunder storm, wearing plate armour and screaming "All gods are bastards!"?

I suppose I've been very fortunate re: any negative impact of my Firewall and AV. I have beaucoup games from Matrix, Ageod, etc. and have not had any apparent problems w/ either to date. I also ran the WW1 demo for the entire 15 day period and had no significant stability problems. This is on an old Athlon XP 3000+, 1 gig of ram, and a vanilla Nvidia 6800 128 Mb card.

I am one of those w/ constant broadband connection and turning off my firewall and/or AV is not an option.

I fully agree, to have permanently turn off firewall and anti virus is no option. It can help however to find the source of the trouble. With WW1 were was an issue that an anti virus program classified the logfile WW1 was writing (in html format) as threat and thus blocking the program.

I installed a new McAfee on my office computer a few days ago and it gave me the choice
of two security options. "Normal" and "Safe". Choosing "Safe" the ant virus software informed me that it's likely that not all application software will run properly... [X(]

The security suite from Kaspersky had an security option which was meant to find threats by suspicious activities. Unfortunately this caused my computer to hang for about one second every minute or so. With every game. I had to turn this off.

Cheers
Norbert
