JuanG -> Juan vs Tonedog, NikMod 9.2b 42A (1/17/2009 1:00:43 AM)

Hello. After being awed by some of the masterpeices in this section, I decided to try my hand at writing an AAR for a game I recently started with tonedog. The game is using the NikMod 9.2b 42A scenario, which begins in '42. We agreed to the following setup; Settings; Sub Doctrines = on FOW = on Allied damage control = on PDU = off Reinforcements = +/- 60 days Auto sub ops = off Expand at start = off Automatic upgrades = off Accept replacements = off Turn cycle = 2 days Rules; 1. Air or ground units belonging to the Kwangtung command may not leave Manchuria unless PP's are spent to change their command. 2. Air or ground units belonging to the India command may not leave India unless PPs are spent to change their command. 3. Air or ground units belonging to China Command may not leave China or Manchuria, unless they change command. 4. PT Boats: PT boats can only be in a TF by themselves. 5. No more than 6 ships in an ASW TF. 6. No submarine Invasions. 7. No 4EB on Naval Attack Below 10,000ft before '43, no B29 on Naval Attack at all. 8. Maximum of 50 active A/C per airfield level +/-10% (160 A/C on Level 3 is fine, 185 is not) 9. Maximum of 25,000 troops per Atoll hex 10. Allies do not strategic bomb occupied territory, only what Japan owns on 7/12/42 Basically, we both keep China stuff in China unless we pay PPs, you keep Machuria stuff in Machuria unless you pay PPs, and I keep Indian stuff in India unless I pay PPs. And the basic rules to fix PT and ASW mechanics, and stacking limits. Start with either Historical turn on, or off. If off, Allies do not form new TFs or give orders to existing TFs. If off, Japanese do not invade crazy places like Australia or Java on turn 1. No splitting of TFs in a port hex into multiple one ship TFs as a means to dilute airstrikes. At sea this is ok, but not in a port. We will also limit land combat in CBI theatre, as both of us are more intrested in the pacific war side of things. Of course, when the time comes for me to recapture Burma and Malaya, then things change. I intend to convey the AAR as a serious of annotated screenshots from various operational theatres, outlining my planned operations, and what the sneaky japanese are up to. As I will be disclosing my operational plans here - this is a closed AAR, so my opponent is not permitted to read it. This is also my first full campaign game against a human. I have played the Guadalcanal scenario vs AW1Steve, and I have played the first year of the full campaign against my brother, and ofcourse beat up on the AI. Because of this I do not mind if any readers want to go ahead and point out anything Im doing wrong. Next post will look at what I predict as being two main operational regions for the next few months - the Aleutians and the region around Port Moresby, and possibly also Midway.
