and2 -> No land combat phase !? (1/17/2009 10:08:03 AM)

Hey all

Hoping to get some help here. Problem is basicly that EIA skips the Land combat phase, and goes to next month's diplomacy, unless there's a field battle in the rural province.

So if the defender, say Nassau only has a garrison and I want to do a assult on the city the game wont let me.

Either, if only siege battles, it skips land combat phase or after a field battle it says no forces eligiable even when there is a corps, with movements points/depot(normal) supply in the province

I tried verson 1.047 and 1.053, I tried redownload, reboots and cleaned the registry and like 10 reinstalls

The really strange thing is that at first it worked, but then around november 1805 as France the bug started and now it persists no matter what I do.

Anyone have a clue? Is EIA dependent on som thirdparty programs like Java or something I need to update? I use XP and yes my java is updated

I could really use some help here--- else I've lost 55 euro and more importantly the ability to play EIA.

Sincerely

And

Sounds odd. Are you sure you are actually siegeing the cities in question not just moving into the area. How about posting a copy of your game to the forum ?

Mardonius -> RE: No land combat phase !? (1/17/2009 12:32:43 PM)

I reckon Dave is correct. To siege the city you must move troops into the city (via the into the city button, which maybe should be renamed the besoege/mive into the city button)

Thanks, it worked moving them into the city [:)]

Why do you think that would make things clearer ? [;)]

What would make it more clear?

Making the button say "move into city/besiege" makes it a little clearer. The question 'how do you siege somewhere?' is a not uncommon one for new players.

La Provence -> RE: No land combat phase !? (1/19/2009 9:05:32 PM)

I have a similar problem :

French Garison in Berlin.
Me (prusian) besiege it BUT no Land combat phase. No siege resolution !!!
During 4 months, the game ignore the siege.

One time it said "Awaiting opponent file" but no land combat pbem !!!
I was oblige to re-play my turn (via backup ; because the game was blockade at this point) and this popup message did not appear BUT : no siege.
The game gone directly to the next player turn.

If there is not a solution for that, Berlin will be definitively french !!!

Yea, it is a little fuzzy. I'm not sure changing the text would clear it up that much???

NeverMan -> RE: No land combat phase !? (1/20/2009 12:40:17 AM)

Why not have a popup when you end your turn and your corps is in a territory that has enemy forces in the city of that territory if your corps is not already sieging?

Marshall Ellis -> RE: No land combat phase !? (1/20/2009 2:05:11 PM)

The popups become annoying. I am almost thinking about automoving the force to the city then forcing a combat phase. You do not have to besiege BUT at least you would miss less opps to lay siege.

So how would you move them to the city (which I think is a BAD idea, but anyways) and then force a combat BUT not a seige? Aren't you still going to have to deal with a popup?

Marshall Ellis -> RE: No land combat phase !? (1/20/2009 3:05:34 PM)

If the land phase were to end with forces in the rural area with a city (With forces in it) then I would auotmove them to the city. This would save everyone from manually moving them to the city.

BUT ... you are right that there would still be a popup (in fact multiples). D! Maybe the one prompt would be better ... ????????? Back to the drawing board. Sorry, just thinking out loud again!

ndrose -> RE: No land combat phase !? (1/20/2009 3:14:28 PM)

Even if you're not forced to besiege, you don't always want to move to the city, so I wouldn't want this to be automatic. I can think of at least two instances: 1) when you want to be able to forage; 2) when for some reason you don't want the garrison to starve (which they may if you're at the walls, even if you're not actually sieging).

Marshall Ellis -> RE: No land combat phase !? (1/20/2009 3:37:55 PM)

Good points.

Yes, if you manually move them to the city and they don't want to be there then they are going to have to decline the seige, which will most likely cost you another popup anyways..

better just to leave it and let people read the rules I guess.

I think I must agree with you Neverman (Ouch!) LOL!

That pain you feel is called "making sense", I know, it's not common among humans but you can get used to it!
