Washington DC Status: TRASHED. The mall and streets of DC are strewen with trash, and all the grass on the mall is most likely dead, trampled to dust litterally; there were dust clouds. Metro station entrances, at least at L'Enfant Plaza were full of disposed paper trash, cans, etc. I'm sure glad I ain't working for the DC Dept of Public Works tomorrow... PACKED. The Closest I got to the stand was 1.2 miles (washington Monument Area). That's where I took the above photo. Maryland National Guardsmen looking bored. Bomb Sniffing Dog. These were roving around at all times. WW2 Memorial + Reflecting Pool + Lincoln = FILLED Inside the reopened American History museum More Museum fun Taken at around 5:15 PM from 3/4ths of a mile away from the US Capitol with a 250mm telephoto lens with Image Stabilization. For you europeans, that's 1.2 kilometers. Damn, I need a 500mm lens. More 250mm zoom lens fun! This was taken at 50mm length, to show the various JUMBOTRON setups on the mall at 5PM, just before I left. Trash on the tree planters near L'efant plaza. Imageine a whole street full of stryrofoam containers all discarded..... Near the washington Monument Okay now. This was NOT NOT NOT taken by me. It was posted on Flickr however; and it does illustrate what it was like at 11:00 AM at the L'enfant metro station waiting to get out: This one isn't by me, but it's so awesome: And they did their job seriously, I could not see a single hobo at all, usually they like to hang around the steam grates of government buildings and the Smithsonian in the winter for heat...
