hatemf90 -> WW2 scenario (1/24/2009 8:43:38 PM)

hi,

I have a question about world at war scenario, Im germany when trying to attack france, my forces have only 77 readiness and 77 movement, this prevents me from attacking the french, as i have to cross the river... all units had enough supplies and the winter hadnt kicked in yet...

Well, last i checked germany had no cards, war was declared automatically when i attacked poland

henri51 -> RE: WW2 scenario (1/25/2009 2:50:33 AM)

I got a card in April 1940 allowing me to declare war on France.I am not sure if you can do it before that.

On the opening turn only, Germany cannot attack the West. Germany can attack Poland AND Allies Minor on turn 1.
When West takes its turn, they automatically declare war on Germany and can attack if they so choose.
That can be a bit confusing, I know.
What version are you playing, and are you playing against the AI?

Tufkal2 -> RE: WW2 scenario (1/25/2009 12:01:34 PM)

I am playing / defending the West in this game (WaW33d)...
My understanding is that for units which contain an artillery unit (like an infantry gun) without having enough carrying capacity you will need 80 movement points to cross the Maginot line: 50 artillery movement into the hex + 20 river + 10 enemy hex penalty. So this might become difficult in winter...
By the way: Does anybody have any experience for this scenario when the Germans should be able to attack France in force and when they can be expected to take Paris?

Grymme -> RE: WW2 scenario (1/25/2009 4:23:34 PM)

There is an actioncard that catches the West unprepared, occupies norway, lands paras in eben email etc. This card should be played.

Around june 1940, if the german player is good.

How does one go about declaring war when there is no card to play? I can't find anything in the manual or the forums. For example in the WW2 scenario as Germany, I have taken Paris and am ready to go after the Balkans, but my units can't cross the border into Yugoslavia. I know that the Axis miors will join me when I attack Russia, but is there a way to declare war on Yugoslavia and Greece?

Try the strategic screen. There should be a "declare war" button when you look at other regimes.

hatemf90 -> RE: WW2 scenario (1/25/2009 7:22:11 PM)

Im pretty sure I have no cards, either they will show up later or i just dont have them..

Grymme -> RE: WW2 scenario (1/25/2009 7:30:27 PM)

Its in the strategic information map screen. Not in the research/actioncard screen,

Go to the research section and click on "Hand Cards." You will find it there.

In fact, unless you play the card, it appears the "Western Blitz" card will never go away, even if you capture Paris and set up the Vichy regime.

After checking about with different options to play the game, including declaring war against Allied and Balkan Minors in June 1940 (when you receive the card), it appears that the card is always there to be played.

Thus, you must not be navigating to the proper screen to find the card.

Grymme i didnt find anything in the strategic info map, except the possibility to declare war on allied minors, is that what you mean?

Same thing for the "Active cards"...

Just checking, but did you click on Hand Cards? That's where they arrive.

Yes, there is no cards in your hand in Dec. 1939. THe scenario doesn't give the Western Blitz card until March or April 1940.

On the Strategic info map where you saw the allied minors (that is Belgium and Holland) there is also Balkan Minors - that is Yugoslavia and Greece. If you click on the declare war button when the Balkan Minors is sleceted then you will be at war with both Yugoslavia and Greece.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Barthheart, that explains alot

When would be a good time to attack the Balkan minors?

Well if it's Dec. 1939 and you have already taken Paris then now is a good time! [:)] They are much weaker that France but the terrain is harder.

henri51 -> RE: WW2 scenario (1/27/2009 12:11:54 AM)

OK I found that you can declare war on France or the Balkans without action cards, by going to the strategic map as described above, clicking on the country name and clicking the declare war button. In my game I used the card that comes in April 40 to declare war on France, but a bit later used the declare war button to declare war on the Balkans and invade Yugoslavia. A bit later, the other Axis minors automatically allied with me. By the time I finished taking Greece, we were in August 41, so I declared war on Russia  (by using the card) a few months late and will probably have to conduct a Winter war.
