Hey I noticed something odd, I noticed while playing a scenario that the subs can detect ships through landmasses. Is this normal and correct behavior, or is something not right here?
I'm attaching a picture.

The perfect scenario to show this as an example is on the PDB in EU4 battleset scenario Iranhattan Project. To get this to happen, just start the scenerio and wait a few seconds or a minute or two and it should happen every time.

I believe that you are in error.

I am attaching an image of the similar event. I believe that this is what you are seeing. Please note that the ship that is selected does appear to be on the other side of the Strait and cut off by the land.

However, if you saved the game immediately and then re-opened it for examination with the Scenario Editor (and turning on the Show All function), you will see that the tanker-in-question is actually on your side of the Strait.

The uncertainty zones often show things like subs and ships over land. They are just an approximation. You just have to sort the chaff from the wheat in your own mind.

Always good to see folks playing the game with an analytical approach. This is quite often how many bugs are found by people just keeping their eyes and minds open. [8D]

Alright HH, thanks for the heads up, I was looking at that thinking that this was a actual bug, I was litterally thinking to myself "Sonar uses doppler effect, so wouldn't it reflect back off the land and not go through?" and I didn't even realize that it was actually that off. I was just thinking that it would be at least accurate enough that it would be on the right side of the landmass. My bad, I didn't realize that was one of the things in the way the uncertainty was modeled. I'm glad you pointed that out, now I realize what I need to do now with things like that, I need to check the SE to make sure it isn't just something I'm not catching on to. Sorry if this sounded like a rookie mistake, but then again, I am a rookie.

Good analysis, Herman.
