I would offer the caveat that I am (at this juncture) a bit too lazy to wade through all the emails to provide definitive answers. As such, my numbers are notional. I will do my best to offer my impressions etc.
1) Approximately how many 1939 scenarios of AWD have you played under v1.03? (or how many do you have any record of)?
A - I only play 1939 scenarios of late. Within the past 5-6 months, I have probably played 25-30 games (if not more - I have 5 on the go right now - 7 incl AAR). (I have slowed down, now that I have a contract....)
2) How many of these games were Total War, Global Glory or Uncommon Valor?
A - I almost uniquely play Global Glory, although I probably played a couple Total War games in addition to the current 2v2 AAR.
In how many of those games did you see the listed element of Axis strategy:
3) ... 1940 Barbarossa? A - none
4) ... 1941 Barbarossa? A - probably 80% of the games I play have a 1941 Barbarossa. I had one that kicked off in winter 1941 with my opponent launching a massed armour attack. Very effective. He thrashed me. But that was the earlies barbaross.
5) ... 1942 Barbarossa? A - 20% or so of the time. This usually occurs when Germany has focused on the Med/Mideast (sound familiar?)
6) ... No German attack on USSR (USSR enters via WR)? - Perhaps once (maybe twice) and I think this was an accident (misjudge WR)
7) ... 1940 Operation Sea Lion? A - in 1940, none. A couple games in 1941. It is often threatened, but rarely attempted.
8) ... Capture Cairo? A - almost every time that Germany really concentrates on the Med - so, around 15-20% or so of games played. A lot depends on whether Italy joins immediately with the fall of France.
9) ... Capture Gibraltar? A - this occurs almost every time that Spain joins the war. Otherwise, I can only recall one instance where it was captured (I evacuated it because I needed troops). Needless to say, things were going rather badly for WA by that point.
10) ... Capture Turkey? A - this occurs in approx 5% of games played. Sometimes this happens with a Russia focused strat, but most often players focusing on the Med get Turkey (diplomatic shift plus take adjacent territory; more rarely an outright attack). In my games, I find the allies are often as likely to attack Turkey as the Axis.
11) ... Capture Persia? - This usually occurs in those games where a Mediterranean strat is followed. But, not always - it depends how many troops are there. I would say perhaps 10-15 percent of games. The Russians and Allies attack Persia almost as often in my experience.
12) ... Capture South Africa? - A couple of times when I am getting thrashed.
13) ... Capture Norway? - 75% of the time. I almost always go for it.
14) ... 1940 German-Japanese squeeze play? - Insofar that I have never had Germany attack Russia in 1940, the answer is zero.
15) ... 1941 German-Japanese squeeze play? - 50% if one allows this to include games where Japan DOWs Russia at all. In terms of a concerted focused strategy where Japan hits Russia hard and prior to US entry, I would say 5-10% of games played. I almost always declare war on Russia with Japan at some point or other to deny her factory production and a couple of resources.
16) ... Early Japanese attack on WA (before Winter 42)? - Maybe 30%
17) ... No Japanese attack on WA (US enters via WR)? - Maybe only 2-3 games I have played (I think this is usually accidental). No. It probably happened a couple times where Japan was busy squeezing Russia and busy with China...
18) ... Capture Eastern India? - 10-15% of games, perhaps more. This usually occurs in games where the war in the Med has gone badly for the WA and they have lost too many troops / ships. If the WA hold the Med, they usually hold India.
19) ... Capture Victoria? - Maybe 15-20% of the time. A lot depends on how successful the WA have been in the Med and how early Japan attacks. Early attacks are more likely to allow a move to Australia than late ones....
20) ... Capture Chungking? - 10% of the time.
21) ... Capture Pearl Harbor? - 20% of the time
22) ... Pearl Harbor raid by Japanese CVs on turn of DOW? - 40%
23) ... US West Coast raid by Japanese CVs on turn of DOW? - 60%
