Wow, five years ![&o]

Dixie -> RE: CVE Sangamon Model (2/14/2009 9:23:51 PM)

That is impressive.  Imagine how many turns of WitP you'd need to play to finish that beast between them [X(][X(]

tocaff -> RE: CVE Sangamon Model (2/14/2009 9:27:32 PM)

I thought it was a stealth ship until the link.  [:)]

That looks great, the time spent was staggering.

wdolson -> RE: CVE Sangamon Model (2/14/2009 11:34:24 PM)

Nice.  Large ship models are intriguing, but boy do they take up space!

At the Nuremburg Toy Fair last year, someone introduced a 1/72 scale Bismarck model in injection molded plastic.  Haven't heard anything more since though.  It was enormous.

Kingfisher -> RE: CVE Sangamon Model (2/14/2009 11:40:54 PM)

Beautiful looking ship. Odd looking bow wave.

thegreatwent -> RE: CVE Sangamon Model (2/15/2009 2:38:24 AM)

Wow, just wow. I am awed.

TOMLABEL -> RE: CVE Sangamon Model (2/15/2009 5:15:22 AM)

Awesome!!! Definitely a labor-of-love. Very impressive, although the paint job on the TBMs could have been alot better, well, the F6Fs too, but I bet he had someone else do those.

The most fascinating part to me were the dolphins/porpoises racing the bow!!! How cool!!!! I've never seen that modeled before! [&o]

Magnificent

goodboyladdie -> RE: CVE Sangamon Model (2/15/2009 8:48:36 AM)

Here is a link to more pictures of the model. Somebody posted a feature a year or so ago that opened up pages showing all this guy's amazing work. If I find it again I'll add a link to this thread.

How BIG is that model.  The pictures don't really help with the size.  Would it be 9-10 Feet long?

Sangamon was 553' long, so 1:72 scale model would be 7' 8".

Sarganto -> RE: CVE Sangamon Model (2/17/2009 10:45:11 PM)

I will never understand, how you can spend so much time on something so useless.

Anyway, looks awesome.

Same can be said of the hours spent on AE (and I'm sure many a spouse has said just that). Or many other pass time pursuits for that matter.
