JFW -> RE: How do you lay smoke using direct fire? (2/20/2009 5:59:58 PM)

Ok, so the correct tactic is to use mortars and artillery to lay smoke 6 or so hexes in front of your infantry advance? If smoke is being laid down, is it safe to use the full movement possible. My understanding is that you should limit your advance to about 2 hexes to avoid being seen if you don't have a smoke screen....but if you do have smoke in front, is it safe to proceed at full run at least during the early part of an assault to quickly get to where the action is going to start? Thanks for any tips you can give. I'm signing up for the training in the depot. By the way, do you happen to know if there is a good Panzer General or Panzer General II program out there that will run on Vista? The old DOS version of Panzer General is the best campaign strategy game against the AI that I've ever played.
