petter26 -> Re-Imaging problem (2/25/2009 1:22:36 AM)

Every time I move the cursor past Naples or the bottom right side of the map. The program keeps reimaging itself across the whole screen. This has made the game totally unplayable, so I just shelved it for several months(almost a year).

Now I have got the itch to play again, and again this re-imaging crap. I beleive it started when I updated back with v 1.3 or whatever. I would really like to play.....any help?

Mike

NeverMan -> RE: Re-Imaging problem (2/25/2009 1:27:27 AM)

If by re-imaging you mean it "stutters" while you move the map, then I have the same problem. It's pretty annoying yes, but this is not on my list for why this game is unplayable. [;)]

petter26 -> RE: Re-Imaging problem (2/25/2009 1:44:33 AM)

Yeah, Like I see Naples 50 times. But it resets, and everything is fine after I move it away from the bottom right side of the map. I guess stutters is a good word.

I am set at 96 DPI, and have all the updated video drivers. I guess an unistall/reinstall is in order? My computer did not like one of those updates.

petter26 -> RE: Re-Imaging problem (2/25/2009 1:46:40 AM)

Hmm...

Maybe I misread. It is entirely unplayable, as you cannot use the bottom rh portion of the map. Even when you use the "quick jump" map to get there. Same problem.

DCWhitworth -> RE: Re-Imaging problem (2/25/2009 8:08:09 AM)

I'd check that you have the latest version of the video drivers for your PC.

petter26 -> RE: Re-Imaging problem (2/25/2009 12:14:31 PM)

That is freakin typical! As soon as I post this I find a driver update on Sony. Game works fine now. Geez!

Thanks for the suggestions

DCWhitworth -> RE: Re-Imaging problem (2/25/2009 1:48:23 PM)

Glad to hear you're sorted. Always worth looking at your graphics drivers first if you have display issues.

Glad to hear this! Now play this thing... :-)

Zuni76 -> RE: Re-Imaging problem (10/6/2009 11:48:31 PM)

hello,

unfortunately I have the same problem (south-eastern part of map not visible), installing newest drivers did not help. I'm using laptop with Intel 945 chipset, 1 GB of RAM. Reinstalling EiA didn't helped. No other apps running. Any ideas ?

Piotr

NeverMan -> RE: Re-Imaging problem (10/7/2009 12:41:20 AM)

Zuni... the "blame a 3rd party" approach (aka "install newest drivers") didn't work for me either.... sadly, I just play through the problem.

Zuni76 -> RE: Re-Imaging problem (10/7/2009 7:47:34 AM)

NeverMan,

the problem is that the game is unplayable in my case. The map does not just stutter, the case is that down-right quarter, does not appear at all (Naples, Balkans, Turkey, Egypt etc) - when scrolling it just repeats edge of accessible part of map. Strategic map does not work this part of tactical map also. So I can't access provinces located there.

Playing through means playing only Prussia all the time ;-)

Piotr

Marshall Ellis -> RE: Re-Imaging problem (10/7/2009 1:01:22 PM)

So, you have installed the latest drivers, reinstalled the game, rebooted and this still happens?

Zuni76 -> RE: Re-Imaging problem (10/7/2009 1:23:59 PM)

yes, i've installed newest drivers, I did few times unistall/reinstall with 1.06 patch and I didn't forget about a reboot. Still the same. Anti-Virus switched off, no other apps running.

Also when I tried to run 1.00 version I got already known "storage" error message. So maybe some memory issues ?

Apart from that game runs smooth. I've played through few months - but with just part of the month it is pointless.

my configuration:
ACER TravelMate 4230
Intel Core 2 T5500@1.66 GHz
1GB RAM
Intel GMA 945

Marshall Ellis -> RE: Re-Imaging problem (10/7/2009 1:55:57 PM)

Can you send me a screen paint?

Zuni76 -> RE: Re-Imaging problem (10/7/2009 6:06:51 PM)

here is center of the map (where problem starts)

Zuni76 -> RE: Re-Imaging problem (10/7/2009 6:07:56 PM)

here is the right-down corner (totally not accessible)

Zuni76 -> RE: Re-Imaging problem (10/7/2009 6:10:04 PM)

and here it is what happens when I click on inaccessble part on the strategic map - on main map nothing changes, but look where strategic map is pointing

Marshall Ellis -> RE: Re-Imaging problem (10/7/2009 11:45:03 PM)

Most definitely a graphics buffering issue but your machine sounds like it should handle this???
What version of DX are you using?

Zuni76 -> RE: Re-Imaging problem (10/8/2009 9:54:07 AM)

directX 9.0c

Marshall Ellis -> RE: Re-Imaging problem (10/8/2009 1:10:44 PM)

What other apps are you running?
O/S?

Zuni76 -> RE: Re-Imaging problem (10/8/2009 1:26:27 PM)

no other apps, Windows XP Professional SP 3

Spartan07 -> RE: Re-Imaging problem (10/8/2009 4:03:03 PM)

Guys,

I have had this problem for a year. Marshall see my various posts over time. Nothing fixes it. It only occurs after you load a Turkish Pbem turn. Restarting the game wont clear it you have to reboot...

Odd???? That is what I am running on my dev box?

Zuni76 -> RE: Re-Imaging problem (10/8/2009 4:43:58 PM)

Nego,

in my case it happens every time I run the game, reboot doesn't help nor reinstalation :-(

since buying the game I'm playing only Prussia ;-)

Marshall Ellis -> RE: Re-Imaging problem (10/8/2009 5:31:19 PM)

Antivirus stuff running?
What resolution are you starting the game in?

A couple of things to try...

1. Make sure your monitor is set to 96dpi and 1024x768 then start game.

2. Try running the game directly from the EXE (goto the c:\Matrixgames\Empiresin Arms dir) then dbl-clk the EIA.EXE file to run it outside of the game play menu.

Let me know...

Zuni76 -> RE: Re-Imaging problem (10/8/2009 8:02:55 PM)

antivirus - Symantec Endpoint Protection, but tried to run the game with AV disabled also I've switched off non-crucial processes - no luck

tried 1&2 still no luck

also tried to set 128 MB graphics memory buffer in BIOS, but it didn't help either

maybe it is sign, that it is high time for hardware upgrade

Marshall Ellis -> RE: Re-Imaging problem (10/14/2009 5:57:58 PM)

I'm simply confused since the game really is not Graphic intensive at all??????
There may be an issue with that Intel card BUT I'm not sure???
I will look at my bundle of machines to see if I have a similar box!
