Ron Saueracker -> Post UV possibilities. (5/15/2002 5:58:38 PM)

Obviously, UV is the forerunner of WITP. It might work with a Med backdrop, but that would be stretching the land combat as described in the aars I think. Anything else is in need of a more in depth approach, at least for land warfare. All of these projects should be able to utilize the same basic engine, with gradual improvements, so that the companies involved can make a few bucks on all their work thus far. While these offspring of the UV/WITP are satisfying their gaming legions and generating revenue, my belief is that perhaps a gaming company on this scale could devote a fair amount of its creative energy on an improved AI engine, which could be used under license by other developers for their products as well, somewhat like those companies which have developed multiplayer engines and have made some decent profit leasing them out. Perhaps then, the next step might be global in scale. Perhaps a global scale game like Europa Universalis, but on a much more detailed level, with a WITP style combat interface and the historical timeline centred around the 1850's to 1946 (the global arena was fairly well defined by this point). Basically, use the political and economic aspects of the game (many forum scribes reatedly express a desire for an ability to control production...why not go the whole way) as one big mother of a battle generator for a more detailed warfare engine. I'm rambling here as I can't sleep again, but any thoughts? :)
