everything is in the manual which is in your spwaw main folder and can be read as a .pdf with acrobat reader... however...

basically, select 'play by email' when entering the game and then choose 'battle' here you can assign the sides, date, visibility etc... use the 'Preferences' option to select the battle points and number of air sections available (something you should agree with your opponent)... You can use a random map or a custom map from those that come with spwaw or any you have downloaded (there are some groovy ones on the map download contest thread in the scenarios / campaigns subforum)... once you're done you select continue and that will take you to the player 1 purchase screen (if that's you, you can buy your force), you will also need to a put your password in here as you go here.

after that it should promopt a save (slots 3 -12) and then exit you out and tell you to send the relevant files to your opponent. You will find these in the matrix games/spwaw/ email subfolder and there are 4 of them, they are email.aux, .cmt, .dat and .rec. Zip them in winzip and send them as an attachment to your opponent. Your opponent needs to unzip them into the email subfolder and then boot up the game, and select pbem. He will then be able to purchase and deploy and then will need to zip and send it back to you. You can then deploy and take your first turn.

When you end your turn you go through the same process of zipping those files and emailing to and fro until it's over.

For your first game it may be helpful if your opponent sets up the parameters, although it is very straightforward once you get the hang of it all. The manual has step by step instructions for this.

good luck and post again if you get stuck!
