Chocolino -> RE: Crossroads: Axis Perspective (5/1/2009 12:40:23 AM)

July 24th, 1946

The USSR does not exploit the huge gap in the East Front. We started to build a new last defense at the Oder river in front of Berlin - just in case the current one is broken. After that we have to rely on a ring defense of Berlin itself. There are only 4 turns left.

The US destroyed an outside defender of Paris but did not occupy the spot next to Paris, so we could fill it back up with a fresh corps. The US advance in southern France has stopped. We bring a stronger Italian unit to Marseilles to place the weak Vichy unit in any case. (I forgot to take a snapshot of France this time).

August 1st 1946

Politician of all involved factions have to deal with war weary populations. The Axis would love to freeze the status quo but Western Allied leaders need to show more at home to ensure reelection and Stalin is out for revenge. So the war will continue for now.

The LeHavre pocket is reduced and a US unit reaches the outskirts of Paris. We need to eliminate it in order to remove the imminent threat to the city. With sufficient air force Paris could be taken otherwise. In the East, Lublin and Warsaw still hang on but Lodz falls. Of those only Warsaw is worth a VP. We get it back by convincing Persia to join our side at the last minute.

Chocolino -> RE: Crossroads: Axis Perspective (5/1/2009 10:31:07 PM)

September 1st, 1946

After seven long years, the war comes slowly to an end. Politicians have worked on a piece agreement and it looks it will be place by September 2nd between all factions. War weary populations have given the political leadership no choice. But during the rest of the day, the Allies have still one more chance to change things in their favor. The Axis however has already stopped all offensive actions and will limit itself to the defense of key objectives only. With the exception of Koeningsberg, Germany has gotten away unharmed and so did Italy as well as most of the Axis minors (well, we had to sacrifice the Romanians and Swedish early on unfortunately). Now there will be one last nail-biter on who will control Paris in a post-war Europe. We have lost already Warsaw even though it defended itself well. I have lost track of the VP count at this point but believe I did a mistake when posting it earlier. We will see after the last turn.

Extremely interesting AAR.  Thanks for doing it.

Everyone enjoyed this one. I have never seen the final victory screen!

So, it looks like Etienne never received another atomic bomb? I had heard this was the case, but it surely cannot be correct. They were difficult to make, but we know they could have built at least two.

Your game brought facets of the game forward that have never been revealed before. Good fun, thanks.

Chuck

Thank you everybody for reading it, the helpful recommendations during the game, and the kind comments afterwards. I enjoyed writing it more than I initially expected.
