Panzer Commander -> Artillery Cancellation Problem (10/19/2000 7:56:00 PM)

My father-in-law and I have been playing a v2.3 German Assault v Russian Defend battle. We have noticed that you cannot cancel artillery missions. The cancel button seems to be ignored. We will be starting a V4.3b Russian Assault v German Defend battle in the near future and I have noticed the same thing. Additionally, I have noticed that air missions and partisan plotting are also affected in the same way. Has anyone else seen this and is there a workaround other than saving your game before starting any plotting just of case of a mistake? Thanks

I was playing a scenario yesterday in 4.3 and was able to cancel artillery with no problem. I had a battery of 155s and 105s, both designated to fire smoke. I cancelled both fire missions and reassigned a firing mission to one of them. Again no problem. The only thing I can think of is that just as sometimes you can't get artillery (radio - communication problems) sometimes you can't get them on the horn to cancel missions, but that is a guess on my part. Could be that a) the unit is out of contact ? b) the "time" says 0.1 ? This means the shells are already on their way, so no way of cancelling the mission .. just my 0,02 EUR Arralen

Not to seem rude but are you sure that you are clicking the correct button to cancel? It the second to the last on the right side. I've been able to cancel fire missions even when the firing unit was out of contact. When I canceled the mission, the unit appeared greyed out showing me that it was out of contact. When a unit has a mission plotted and it is out of contact, you can not adjust its target. That is if you click on the adjust fire button (last on the right side), a radius circle is not displayed. ------------------ An old soldier but not yet a faded one. OK, maybe just a bit faded.

It is a red circle with a backslash through it, right?

I checked again. This seems to happen only in Assault v Defend. It also affects setting partisan. I click a hex I want to put them then try to cancel and it is ignored. I also note that it does not affect onboard artillery. I have a SU-76M platoon and can set and cancel artillery all day, even when it says 0.1.

I have checked this out and unless I am doing something very wrong, this problem occurs as above. Could someone try a German V Russion defend and see if the partisan and artillery missions can be cancelled once set. I try other types of battles Meeting Engagement and Delay and these work fine. Thanks, Bill J

I will give it a try and see what happens. My pleasure, Panzer Commander!...WB ------------------ In Arduis Fidelis Wild Bill Wilder Coordinator, Scenario Design Matrix Games

Wild Bill - Any luck reproducing this?
