1089 -> 1280x1024 Map? (5/17/2002 3:55:59 AM)

Hi--

How about allowing a 1280x1024 Map in WItP? With such a large map to be dealing with, I'd like it to be able to use all of my 18.1-inch flat screen. It should make finding things on the map easier, for those of us with higher-resolution monitors. UV only allows 1024x768.

thanks,
kp
:)

Hello...

There are two problems with having a 1280x1024 pixel map. One is that the interface programming time would be increased by one third. Each screen resolution requires a completely new set of coder. The other is that the icons would look pretty small. It is unlikely that we will be able to provide this higher resolution.

Thanks for Your input...

brisd -> another fan of 1280X1024 (5/23/2002 1:49:34 AM)

I just got UV and while the 1024X768 resolution is nice, there is still a big blank area on my 17" flatscreen. Please consider that when developing your future games if it will not be in WITP.

The solution--Drop the 800x600 resolution. There should be some limitation on resolution for such a big map. You're not supporting VGA anymore, I see. SVGA was the least adopted resolution of the three (VGA, SVGA, and XGA). For a game this size, the 1280x1024 which is standard for 17-inch and higher flat screens should take precedence. I know of no 8MB Video card that does not support 1024x768, so 800x600 is redundant.
