ok in about 8 hours of game time last nite I noticed that my support troops at PM were always in the red. (Same thing for my avaition support). Now PM is full of supplies... overwhelmingly so. How do I get "more" support troops in PM? Or maybe I dont understand what the support means?

I'm up through June 8th. Since my major Coral Sea action, its been very very quiet.

Yeah, support is not supplies. Support (there are also different categories, like aviation support) is provided by supporting troops, usually E-troops. Ship 'em over and the problem is gone. :)

Whats the break down on HQs to troops? I have two at PM (I was awaiting a Japanese attack that never happened). I also have 3 counters of E troops and I am still under supported...so.
Maybe the nead a meals on wheels division .

You need a support squad for every squad, gun or vehicle in a hex. Most units have intrinsic support, but a lot don't have enough and require you to use an HQ (pure support troops) to add enough support to the hex.
As for aviation support, these come from the base force units (certain engineer units). In these base force units are aviation support squads, and ideally you need one for every plane at the base (never more than 250 aviation support needed at a base). Not all Engineer units are base forces.

AFAI gathered from the manual, you must have at least one base force providing aviation support. But if it is inadequate, the computer tries to build up reinforcements for it by itself.

Then i choose load troops, pick a support unit of 1500 men (Engineers) i can only choose in the following menu, back or exit. In either pick, nothing is registered as TF is loading anything, just idle. The TF got space for 4000 troops so i wonder what i have done wrong (exept for not reading the manual throughly that is :-))

After you load troops and go back to tf menu
hit the load supplies,or fuel. the tf will proceed to load the rest of what you pick.

It seems you should be able to load all 3 on a transport TF???

I am going to try to let a convoy load troops then some fuel, and before its full switch to supplies to see if all will be loaded.

What I don't understand is barges.

If you pick load troops the TF will automatically fill out any space left after the troops are loaded with supplies. Make sure that you give your TF a destination or when it's finised loading it will start unloading in the hex it's in.

I've also found it more benificial to form a separate TF with the escorts and have them follow the transport TF rather than including them in your transport TF.

This is the correct description with respect to loading. I also agree with the other issue, but I nevertheless include at least some destroyers to be prepared for
those annoying sub attacks. :)

If there are destroyers in the escort TF (and you should have some for protection against submarines), make sure you set the mision to "patrol" and "react to enemy" then for destination insure it is following the task force you want it to escort. It will usually attack or counterattack subs. I say usually because sometimes the sub is able to get inside get a shot of and dissappear.
The other advantage to this is that if your transports are unloading in a hex that is the target of an enemy surface task force your escort intercepts and fights the battle thus protecting your transports. If you have your escorts mixed in with your transports guess what shows up in your battle line?

Exactly! Whats up with barges and barge hubs. Is something happening that I dont know about in the game? Where are the barges? I just dont get it. I can supply my bases with my Marus without any problems. HELP PLEASE.

Barges are a low cost way (0 VP) to supply troops at bases covered by a lot of enemy aircraft. You make barges by turning supplies on a TF into a barge TF (see manual).

Yeah, but somehow that's exactly what we do not understand, even not from the manual.

What does a "barge hub" do exactly?

And does creating barges mean that we do not have to wait for "barge ships"? Why do we have to load supplies on a TF first? Will the transports then vanish? This is all a mystery to me. I'd like to see the barge system explained so that even the doofus I am understands it, with screenies if possible. :)
